Steven Spielberg has given us some of the most awe-inspiring Science-Fiction films of all time; Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park and A.I. Artificial Intelligence -- and Minority Report is no exception. This film is fantastic, based on Phillip K. Dick's (Blade Runner) short story. It is such a great tale, using the "used world" element to Earth in the future. And Tom Cruise, Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton and Max von Sydow, are all fantastic in the film.
The transfer, will most definitely divide audiences, and I've never quite been the kind of person who says that some films need grain, to componsate for a poor transfer, but in this case (just as in the case for Saving Private Ryan) the film needs the grain. Telling a story in a "used-world" setting, the grain gives a great essence of reality, and makes all the fantastical Science-Fiction elements to seem more real (as apposed to the very glossy I, Robot -- which, in its own way is a great film, but the big difference here is realism -- which Minortiy Report has).
The audio is great, and the Extra-Features are magnificent, with most recycled from the DVD, however, this is a good thing because those extras were awesome.
So, buy Minority Report, and hopefully you Pre-Ordered the Steelbook version like myself and others, because this packaging is far superior to the regular Blu-Ray, which is awful artwork.
