  A gem in my library

A fantastic journey in our world and the immediate space that surrounds it: our Solar system. The images, both actual photographs from most recent space exploration and very high quality computer simulation, are exhilarating and beautifully inspiring. Add to that the high definition of Blu-Ray and the sound performance, plus of course the perfect, living and entertaining narration from Prof. Cox and you have a unique document, a must have in my humble opinion. For that price, it is almost unreal.

Brilliant, but not as Hi-Def as you think,

Although this is great educational Blue-Ray, some people considering buying this should consider if a DVD would be better option. Some of the fotage is deciededly grainy, and a hi-spec (2011 [Branded]) DVD player would produce a better upscaled image for consistency.
Otherwise superb value..

I bought this a couple of days ago and have been watching them with a mate and watched one disc so far and it has been the most interesting and amazing two and a half hours I've watched on blu ray so far. The picture quality is outstanding and the way it is all broken down and described is brilliant I'm definitely getting Wonders of the Universe when it comes out at the start of April you won't be disappointed.

  Completely amazing

If you are interested enough to be looking at this page right now, just but it! It is fantastic for anyone who has an interest in astronomy, even if you don't this is visually stunning, buy it anyway. So many moments you take a step back and it takes your breath away. Wonderful.

An absolutely brilliant series, which you just have to see to understand how good it is. Amazingly shot, beautiful locations (he gets to go everywhere, it's so unfair!), great graphics, and the brilliant enthusiasm of the Prof himself!

And I know this isn't part of the review, but I have to say this because I know MANY people who read this will be glad to know.... He's back! The new series, Wonders of The Universe, starts on Sunday 6th March! Yay! :-)

I bought this being new to Star Gazing and having watched the BBC astronomy program at the beginning of the year (2011) which Brian Cox helped present. He describes and explains everything so a complete beginner can understand. I couldn't help but go "ohhhhhh" and "wow" throughout. I can't recommend this enough to a complete beginner and at the bargain price of 999 of our earth pennies it is worth errrrrrrrrr every penny.

Wow, I've always been fascinated by programme series of this nature, i've followed several series about our solar system & the universe over the years. I have to say this series has not only been the most inspiring or the most moving but also the most factual in terms of scientifically. This is such a well made & well produced series, from the top quality CGI to the awesome audio (DTS) which sounds great on a home cinema system by the way :-) but also Professor Brian Cox who not only narrates the series but features visually throughtout, he explains things simply & creates a very personal touch. All in all this is an awesome journey, 1 of which I will take not just once, but again & again.

I implore you, buy this blu-ray it will open your mind to the astonishing vastness of our solar system.
Brain Cox speaks with such passion, and in such a way, that his intricate and scientific explainations become easy to understand and very easy to watch and most importantly never patronising.I truly believe everyone can gain something from watching this series.

Absolutely superb series, hosted by the very watchable Prof. Brian Cox. The photography and CGI is stunning. Ten stars, never mind five...
