As a show it's fantastic and a must-see for anyone with an interest in the universe.
The only downside is that despite it being blu-ray, it's only 1080i, but the image quality is still superb.

Great TV series led by the engaging and capable Dr Brian Cox that takes a look at our Planet Earth and looks at it, not from magnificent isolation, but from it's place within our solar system and a little beyond and shows us true wonders - both on our planet and far beyond it.

With excellent special effects - a treat in HD - to realise the stories told and aiding our perspective this is has been a real treat over the past few weeks on TV and with the excellent presenting skills of Dr Cox (who marries his facts and insights with easy to understand presentation and demonstrations) it's the magical combination of informative and entertaining!

I hope he presents more series along these lines in the future!

I saw this when it was televised and bought it for when my kids are learning about the solar system at school...I'm 25 and not even married yet but hold the series in that high a regard!!

Professor Brian Cox talks with such passion and enthusiasm about his subject and explains things in such a simple yet informative way that you can't help to be sucked into the wondrous world that we live in.

Looks stunning in HD, definitely buy Blu Ray over DVD if you have that option.

I saw this series on the BBC and thoroughly enjoyed every single second on every episode.
If you missed the series and are interested in the Earth and the Solar System, than I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

If you have a blu-ray player, then choose this over a DVD as the Hi-Def is astonishing!

Having enjoyed BBC's Planet Earth and Life I was looking forward to this series and it does not disappoint.

The 'rock star' professor as he is known, Brian Cox (he was in a band D:Ream) takes us on a truly wonderful journey through our solar system using a combination of CGI, actual video footage and photos from space missions, and travelling the earth to locations that are most similar to those of other planets and moons to help explain the facts.

I sat through each episode in awe about how much is out there in our solar system and it just blew my mind some of the things we have discovered with space probes and satellites in the outer reaches of our solar system. For instance a moon of Jupiter which is covered in ice but underneath it all is a vast ocean of water, yes water all on a place so distant from the sun. Also geisers that erupt ice not heat.

There is too much to talk about and to be able to explain in a review, it has to been seen to be believed.

The soundtrack to the series is also perfectly matched.

All in all this series is as my title states inspiring, fascinating and educating. I've always had an interest in astrology but after watching this series I am in the process of buying a telescope so that I can see these magnificent sights with my own eyes.

Cannot wait for the follow up series 'Universal'.
