Spaghetti Westerns Blu-ray Collection (3 Discs) (Blu-ray)

I would give the movies themselves 10 stars if i could as movies they are perfect, i was really excited to see these on blu ray remastered and in HD. However i was sick when i found the transfers were either the same as the recent DVD release or in the case of FAFDM to be worse, so specklely and very washed out some scenes looked worse than overs on the blu ray putting the remastered dvds and they were so much better less grain speckles and very few scratches. Please stick to the DVD's if you have them and if you appreciate then in best format BLU Ray will let you down on this release

Three great films deserving of state of the art transfers are let down by Fox. Fistful is wrongly framed with slight cropping, Few Dollars More is very nice looking but is still missing about 20 seconds. Good, Bad Ugly is the biggest disappointment as its clearly sourced from the 2002 restoration with edge enchancement, haloing, digital noise reduction and waxy faces. It still looks better than the current DVD though. A disappointing way to handle three classic films but its as good as you're going to get unless Paramount who own the rights to the first two films in Germany do their own superior restorations as they did for the DVDs

yes the films are indeed 'a must own' for all action and western fans.
these three 'spaghetti westerns' changed the standards for this genre forever, the main character could be hit around a bit, walk in a saloon covered in trail dust, and even shot.
one by one the three films just got better each instalment, with the third in the series becoming an all time 'classic' western.
'clint eastwood' a gunman with no-name, cool, and fast with his gun.
each of the films had it's measure of humour within 'the one-liners' and most certainly launched 'clint eastwood' into super-stardom.
sadly as pointed out by an earlier reviewer, the enhancement is little better in picture quality to the 'dvd' re-releases a few years back.
given the 'status' of these films i to feel more effort to enhance should have been made, never-the-less ----the movies themselves are well worth having in your collection.

I have never owned the DVD version of Fistful so it was good to have it in high definition. I must admit it was a letdown in picture and sound quality. Sounds weak, colours bleached plus some horrible graininess.

Again never owned the DVD version of Few Dollars. This suffers from the same problems as Fistful. Grainy and quite flickery too. Sound was good though. If you're happy with your DVD versions, stick with those.

I have however owned several versions of GBU and this is superb. Excellent picture quality and clarity of sound. No grain (that I noticed at least) and even the extended scenes look good.

GBU is worth upgrading for fans, but I would imagine the upscaled versions of the DVD of Fistful and Few Dollars would be as good as this bluray effort, if not better.
