Forget the corny SAS series Ultimate Force and also the tacky 1981 movie Who Dares Wins. This series based on Chris Ryan's best selling book is a complelling story of betrayal, redemption and revenge. It's all played out by the interlinking lives of two former soldiers, discharged John Porter ( Richard Armitage ) and Hugh Collinson (Andrew Lincoln). The series is set around three stand alone feature lengh stories that bases the action in Iraq, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Pakistan as the stories skillfully interweave the dramatic politics and the fog of war and dealing with the personal demons of the two men.
Filmed in South Africa this all action series features skillfully handeled scenes of intense combat to the confines of a brutal prison cell and the war torn deserts of Iraq to the African outback. This is a action drama that outshines most others and although shot for TV it features ear shredding action of cinematic proportions.
It's a fantastic boys own adventure and at times may only have one foot in reality makes way for some of the best action and escapism in ages, that only leaves you battle hungry for series 2 :Project Dawn.

Opening scene is brilliant and pretty much what happens in the book. However John Porter was homeless and an alcoholic shortly after being discharged from the army. However it's a brilliant series and well worth a watch and with that said it does try its best to stay true to the book. Hope sky keep this sort of thing coming!
Picture quality is excellent on blu ray!
