this is awful and boring, the blu ray version is basically watching a black screen for 2:30 hours, to much hype and not enough action. pointless splitting it in to two, cause all the scene are dragged out to film the 5 hours time frame overall.

why bother, i can spend a much more spellbinding evening with some fairy lights and a torch

yet again, another harry potter film that 'is darker than the previous films', and yet, for me, it just dragged on and on. for me, Daniel Radcliffe and emma watson are over-rated,terrible actors, with rupert grint the only saving grace. i really didnt care for any of them. basically, surely teenagers with wands. the first few films were ok, and entertaining, but, like the books, now try to take themselves too seriously, and be something they are not.

Even though the movie is only the first half, it rules!! I am a huge hp fan and i was a little disappointed about the 6th movie (even though it was quite funny and had some amazing effects) as it missed out loads from the book. But, this 7nth movie made up for it. It follows the book almost word by word and i honestly feel it's worth getting. ;)

If u compare the movie to the book and expect the same brilliance from the book you will feel let badly let down, as there are huge gaps and holes missed out in movie compared to book. However, I think this has to be expected. If the movie was played out to every detail of the book the whole movie would have to be around 10 - 12 hours long, I don't know about you but I could not watch a movie that is that long. I'm tired of people moaning that most of the story has been taken out movie, it's decent representation of the book and it's not my favourite Potter movie personally, It is enjoyable though.
In my opinion either read / listen to the books or watch the movies not both.

  great film

Do not forget though that in the book Ron is trying to destroy the horcrux and in the process the horcrux shows him a picture of harry and hermione kissing etc. the same thing applies with the film the only difference is they are naked but i think that gives us imagination as to what lengths the horcrux will do to prevent itself being destroyed?

By the way this film is one of the best.

the film compared to the book

the film I feel is very good one of the best harry potters but I do feel that there are some things the filmakers could have done better, for one the ridulous script they gave to emma watson wa a joke and the fact that in quite a few of the scenes the supporting cast upstaged the main three but I absloutley love the way they have done the film and cant wait for part 2 the only thing I hate in this film is the scene where harry and hermoine nearly get it on after ron leaves which isnt in the book. the scene is cute don't get me wrong but is completley in the wrong context of the scene and of the situation so it doesnt work it's a very good film and one of the best i can't wait to see part 2 and see the scenes they had to re shoot how funny was that !!

  highly overrated

| | See all sparkerl01's reviews (4)

This film tries to be so much more than it is and struggles to engage throughout. Being just the first half of the book the film has a slow pace and of course creates no climax. No one goes to see a film for the beggining so it shouldn't be a surprise that this film isn't so good and hopefully part 2 will be an improvement (it would struggle not to be). The fact that when reviewing this film you have to highlight that part 2 should be better is a sign that this film cannot be seen as a good standalone movie and i feel that when your charging people to see 2 parts to one film both parts should be as equally good and worth the money. Sadly i feel this film doesnt impress and infact highlights the crucial flaw in all harry potter films, the acting. As the title suggests this film is highly overrated but still does what it needs to set up part 2 unfortunately thats all it is a set up for a better film.

  Brilliant

A brilliant and very well done film. It may not hvae been considered that action oriented in the book but the writers have done a brilliant job in bringing this to life.

Very good (mainly) British cast and the acting from the youth is by far the best of the series.

Must buy if you love the Harry Potter Series
