Predator: Ultimate Hunter Edition (Blu-ray)

Predator has always looked dark, indistinct and very, very grainy. I don't know whether the film stock used was unsuitable for the low light and high humidity shooting conditions or what. The first blu was actually a pretty good stab at the cinematic appearance albeit with some video noise added to the grain and a low bitrate caused by a single layer disc. Presunably to save money Fox have not created a new master from a better source but have treated the old one to massive DNR, removing nearly all film grain. Consequently in some shots figures look like plastic toys especially Arnold's red shirt. Brightness and colour have been increased which gives a perceived increase in detail if not an actual one. It doesn't actually look bad except for some odd movements and the waterfall looks strange, it just doesn't look like the cinematic presentation. Most casual viewers will be satisfied with this edition but revisionism of this kind sets a worrying precedent if film companies attempt to make old films look like new ones instead of accepting that some films have their limitations and should be respected.

Ok most of us have already seen the movie and know it's excellent, 5 stars.
The problem seems to be the debate over picture quality, a big issue because you probably already own the movie and are looking for a serious upgrade. This isn't a full restoration from the original stock film, rather some tweeking to remove grain and colour enhancements. Depending on your preferences you'll either love it or hate it. Some scenes look truly stunning, but others suffer from resoluton issues, "wax work" images and overly bright colours, As others have said the first scene looks terrible, and strangely shots of Arnie at times seem to look more defined than the actors standing beside him.
I suspect it will be the more "serious" home cinema fans who have issues with the transfer, everyone else with love it.

Sound- Absolutely no problems, the DTS is flawless.
Movie- 5 stars, one of the 80's greatest.

This is one of those films that are set in stone in history forever!! Predator is a true classic sci-fi action adventure and Arnold Schwarzenegger at his peak!! This film never gets dated with its spectacular story and effects and great cast and the most thrilling alien in film ever!! This truly is the best version anyone could ever possibly own of this film, it has been digitally restored for this special blu-ray release making it look better than ever! There is sneak peaks at the new Predators movie, documentries and new features. the perfect package! A must for all fans who have been waiting for the proper version..

WOW! This to date is the best looking blu-ray version of this classic scifi romp with biceps arnie! The whole overhaul makes it what the first blu-ray version should have been,the jungles now beautifully vivd in colour,no more grain! The very sweat and blood dripping is so easily seen in this film now,the fights scenes is really clear now with the explosion looking tasty,even the special effects to this day looks a treat! The storyline if you dont know is a hunter alien race which trains its young to hunt to become mature by killing other races so earth looks a treat for it! (no more info much watch) The blu-ray clarity is clear as a whistle and the sound is now deafening so easy on the watts and music score well the hunting tune is never better! This is a must have for scifi buffs and those who look a good old alien flick!

Not gonna bother to tell you about the movie, you know this movie anyway, you probably saw it about 50 times when you were a kid. You just wanna know whether it looks good on Blu Ray format right!. It does. It's better than good actually it looks and sounds amazing. BUY IT. No Grain. Real Crisp. "Get To The Check Out"
