4 'Intelligent horror' and ORIGINAL!GingerRogers | 12/08/2010 | See all GingerRogers's reviews (3)Unfortunately this film's bad reputation precedes it - However, it isn't a badly made, gore fest. Tom Six has made an intelligent film where you don't actually SEE anything 'bad' - The actual centipede stuff is very tame in comparison to film like 'Martyr's (which a a wonderful modern horror). All the horror is inferred (unlike A Serbian Film, which I'm amazed has been released considering it;s content), fear being a prevelant part of the suspense. It's not a long film and the story is linear leaving the ending open for part 2 of the trilogy. You could analyse a film like this to death, & look for a mulitude of hidden meanings, so what I will say is, it's not violent or gory, it is 'squirmy' and it does make you think, and reminded me a bit of Gasper Noe's style of movie making, it's not as 'Instant' as 'Nightmare on Elms Street' - and its ORIGINAL. Its not a remake of a 1980's horror. A group of us watched it, and really loved it, to the point where my brother has a human centipede tattoo (and was just in Total Film with it). If you like you're horror with a bit more thought, you won't be disappointed in this film! A true Original that's an instant cult classic!
