This is a quality set to own i have only watched the first movie so far. I have a large selection of blu ray titles and the sound quality on this is amazing. The only let down at least on the first movie is the very grainy picture in darker scenes i think the original dvd release is as good or better just needs a little more cleaning up. Still this is an awesome set for any collector. Overall rating picture 3 out 5 sound 5 out 5 and the films are a must have....
Im a big fan of the jurassic park trilogy and when i bough the blu ray box set i was excited. I put the first film on and noticed against other blu rays such as back to the future that jurassic park lacked real sharpness. Yes its better than a dvd version but not as good as some other films made at an earlier time. The second and thrid film arent any better either. On the first film the dinousaur which you see pulling leaves from a tree, its colour is very washed out, you would think these days they could have enhanced that.
I have the exorcist which was made in 1973 on blu ray and the transfer is amazing. So is back to the future i mentioned earlier. You would think they would have spent more time making it sharper. Oh well still great films you can judge for your self if you think they are worth the money.
Great movies, but the BR transfer is sloppy. The only thing of note are the new featurettes, otherwise picture quality is typical glossy hi-def / same print (i.e. high-grain visibility). Woo hoo.
I can't believe they can sell these as Blu-Ray, the quality is pathetic. It's not as if these films weren't popular- they were, so they should have been sold atleast half decent. The scenes are selective which have been made into bluray. It is more HD than the original but still, no where near BluRay standards. It's a let down.
I have been buying Blu-rays for 3 years now and this is the first review I have given, this is by far the worst transfer, where has all this grain come from !! - I don't mind a bit here and there but the first two movies have more grainy scenes than not, this is sooo dissapointing considering how good these films should look, I watched Once upon a time in the west in HD on Sky the other day and was blown away as to how good the picture was for a 1969 film made on a budget, for me there is no excuse for this, even compared to Close encounters on blu-ray these films do not stand-up. VERY VERY disappointed, only gave two stars because there are a few scenes dotted around the movies that look really good but nowhere near enough.
