Being an ex-pat Canadian and a Rush Fan (since 1979) I am slightly biased.

Having said that, Rockumentarys usually take a standard form. This one sort of does but not quite. It fills in all the gaps about the band and why John Rutsy left just when they got a record contract.

It explains the lack of media presence that the third greatest (in terms of album sales) band in the world did not get, and why all of a sudden they are.

The film is laced with interviews and performances in a perfect mix that just pulls you in. Totally absorbing, even my wife (who likes Rush, but not that much) could not stop watching.

Geddy, Alex and Neil have an excellent chemistry (even though Neil is still referred to as the New Guy) and it is great to see that they get on so well after 37 years + together.

Guest interviews from Mick Box (Uriah Heep), Jack Black and Gene Simmons (Kiss) plus many others (including the South Park creator).

The bonus features are great, especially the dinner at the Hunting Lodge (I think it is the Celtic Lodge in Nova Scotia).

On Blu-Ray, the video clips from the Snakes and Arrows tour are excellent (both sound and vision).

Most definitely a must for anyone who likes Rush or Rock music in general.

  It's RUSH... it's all there!

It's an amazing movie, or a documentary, or wherever you want to call it.
The movie it's well structured and always keep the interest even to a person who aren't fan of Rush.
I think its a "must have" for every person who likes music, who likes progressive music, who like band's histories, etc.

To keep things short, Beyond The Lighted Stage is funny and entertaining look at one of Rock's most succesful and respected bands. The three members certainly aren't the typical drug-taking, womanizing, wild party animals, but three very normal guys who just happen to be the best rock musicians and songwriters on the planet.

The documentary is a must-see for all Rush fans, and indeed for everyone who likes rock/metal in general.
I saw this movie with a bunch of friends, most of them weren't Rush fans, one of them had never actually even heard Rush, but they too enjoyed the movie very much.

  totally rushtastic

If you are a fan of any description of this fantastic band then get this .Starting right back when God was a lad, this tells the story of the greatest rock trio of all time.In fantastic blu-ray quality. It is 90+ mins of pure bliss (mind you 90 mins is way too short for a true rushite like me) and the extras are also terrific esp the dinner with the guys which is very funny ("who are you calling Pork Belly?) you have to get it now to know what that means!
Seriously though a real treasure and a chance ,at last,to get to know the guys a little better, you even get to meet their (surviving) parents.

this is a must have purchase for any rush fan. all the facts and figures you may have already known about the worlds greatest rock band and much more. it was great watching this movie at the cinema a couple of weeks back with all the other rush fans, but it is well worth buying this blu ray, the picture and sound quality is top notch. and there is over an hour of extras and out takes etc. dinner with rush in the extras is well worth buying this disc for alone! roll on next spring when the new album comes out and who knows a uk tour? and well done rush on being awarded your hollywood star. a five star movie about a five star band......buy now!
