If you thought Band of Brothers was good then you should find this experience just as involving.
Suggest you watch Disc 6 first which gives the background and interviews with the Vets and the effort made to recreate the whole thing as accurately as possible.
The BluRay Sound and Picture quality is what you would expect from such a professional production. First Rate !

Probably the Best Value Blu Ray you can buy.

Far from his older brother Band of brothers

I would say it isn't a bad production.
But characters are worst than band of brothers one, argument isn't exciting and there is more violence but less action than in Band ofr Brothers.
QUality of view as others HBO blu rays is great.

Controversial, as BOB's has a fanatic and well deserved fan base, but my opinion is that this is better. Its well scripted, well written and a cinematic treat. Not to take anything away from BOB's though - get both !

The pacing and balance between front line and homefront storyline was good, without the usual play by numbers format that is often adopted in the war genre. Micro plots are dealt with well and tidied up before moving on, leaving a very enjoyable, gripping, believable and flowing thread throughout the series. Highly recommended.

Another stunning HBO box set. Excellent picture quality and a superb DTS-MA soundtrack, together with stunning, almost scary battle scenes. One can only begin to guess what the real thing must have been like.
An absolute must-own package.

  A superb feature

I received this for Christmas and have watched it back to back at least twice. It is absolutely fantastic. Its basically "Band of Brothers" set in the Pacific theatre of WW2 rather than the liberation of western Europe. Its an excellent dramatised story based upon real veterans experiences of warfare in the far east. Its very realistic and has a truly great cast of both new and established actors. Above all the visual quality is "eye wateringly" stunning. A must have for sure.

  Gripping, Violent and Stunning

This mini TV series is the most realistic and intense depictions of the battle of the Pacific during World War II you can see.

If you have watched Band Of Brothers, then you'll know what to expect. Its fairly similar in that each episode concentrates on a specific character or group of characters as they try to cope with the harsh and inevitable realities that made the Pacific battles some of the most violent and harsh in the War.

Every War scene is shot with extreme attention to detail and theres so much chaos and violence going on at times that you sometimes become disorientated just watching it. This is a good thing though as it actually feels like your in the scenes. The setting is off course stunning at times with war raging on in tropical islands showing how the weather can affect soldiers on these uninhabited places.

Be warned though, some scene are hard to watch as the war ravages on and I wouldn't recommend this if your more of a Casablanca type of person. I didn't think it was quite as gripping or memorable as Band Of Brothres, mainly because BoB had characters that were more likeable and charasmatic. But this series follows closely behind as one of the best watches out there for depictions of World War II.

  Awe Inspiring

I am a HUGE fan of Band Of Brothers and when I watched The Pacific on Sky I was blown away by it. The story is that of Heroes of the Second World War that both Inspires you and makes you feel sad. The casting is excellent and the story is well paced and absorbing. The battles are epic in their scale and are glorious to behold. The HD picture and sound are in two words, mind blowing! The picture quality and vibrant colours for daytime scenes are amazing and the dark tones during night scenes are equally good. You notice the attention to detail at all times and simply watching the programme is an enthralling experience. The extra features themselves are fantastic and informative.

Quite simply this is Televisual gold. It is different from Band Of Brothers, but it is also just as good.
