This mini TV series is the most realistic and intense depictions of the battle of the Pacific during World War II you can see.
If you have watched Band Of Brothers, then you'll know what to expect. Its fairly similar in that each episode concentrates on a specific character or group of characters as they try to cope with the harsh and inevitable realities that made the Pacific battles some of the most violent and harsh in the War.
Every War scene is shot with extreme attention to detail and theres so much chaos and violence going on at times that you sometimes become disorientated just watching it. This is a good thing though as it actually feels like your in the scenes. The setting is off course stunning at times with war raging on in tropical islands showing how the weather can affect soldiers on these uninhabited places.
Be warned though, some scene are hard to watch as the war ravages on and I wouldn't recommend this if your more of a Casablanca type of person. I didn't think it was quite as gripping or memorable as Band Of Brothres, mainly because BoB had characters that were more likeable and charasmatic. But this series follows closely behind as one of the best watches out there for depictions of World War II.
