On a suburban street, two masked men seize a young woman. They bind and gag her and take her to an abandoned, soundproofed apartment. She is Alice Creed, daughter of a millionaire. Her kidnappers, the coldly efficient Vic and his younger accomplice Danny, have worked out a meticulous plan. But Alice is not going to play the perfect victim - she's not giving in without a fight. In a tense power-play of greed, duplicity and survival we discover that sometimes disappearances can be deceptive.

The Disappearance of Alice Creed is a utterly gripping and unpredictable thriller, featuring a mesmerising performance from Gemma Arterton (Quantum Of Solace, The Prince of Persia).

This is one of those rare films that keeps you sucked in right from the very beginning right up until the end! A very clever well thought up thriller with an amazing story thats full of little twists and turns and plenty of edge of your seat tension that builds up throughout! The film has an amazing cast that also makes it work so well, Gemma Arterton (St Trinians) is completely amazing and shows she is capable of so much more, this is probably her best perfomance by far! This is a little gem of a film and must be seen, its a perfect example of how you dont need a big Hollywood budget to make a great movie! This is one of the best films of 2010!

 This Generations Shallow Grave.

The Disappearance of Alice Creed (2009) is a dark kidnap drama starring Gemma Arterton, Martin Compston and Eddie Marsan.

This a very dark movie with strong performances from its cast. Arterton is particulary good in a difficult role. Compston and Marsan are good support.

Writer/director J Blakeson (The Descent 2) does a great job of building the tension and does not shy away from showing nudity and violence.

The Disappearance of Alice Creed is no classic but its a strong movie and certainly worth a watch. It reminded me of Danny Boyles debut Shallow Grave.

 Dying to see the end!!

I watched the first half or so of this film on a flight the other day and then we landed! Agghhh!!! It's a brilliant film, very tense, unusual, with a couple of stunning twists even in the first half. Amazing that a movie with just three actors (all brilliant) and almost entirely set in a couple of rooms can maintain the level of interest and tension so brilliantly. Now I'm desperate to see the rest of it, but the DVD isn't out until next month. Will just have to sit and twiddle my thumbs for four weeks......

 Brilliant British Belter!

What a brilliant, clever low budget film this is. With only 3 cast members in the whole film you would not believe how gripping and exciting it is. The story is going one way, then changes, over and over again throughout, you are completely hooked from the first to last minute. This film is proof that you don't need millions of holllywood dollars for a classic - which is exactly what this film is. Even the title of the film makes you think - even as the credits begin rolling. This film is a true hidden gem that all DVD/Blu Ray fans should have (and will love) in their collection. Brilliant.

 superb film
