Can They Be Stopped?

Ever present, ever listening, the evil dead lie in wait for the one ancient incantation that will give them license to possess the living. Watch the horror as five vacationing college students unwittingly resurrect these slumbering demons, and are forced into battle with the supernatural forces that occupy the forests and dark bowels of man's domain. The innocent must suffer. The guilty must be punished. One by one, the students are possessed by these demons whose thirst for revenge is insatiable. As the night wanes, only one man remains... Ash. He must now defend himself while trying to uncover the horrible secret of The Evil Dead.

This is a must own in an horror fans collection! Its an all time classic horror movie that was the building blocks for so many other classic and modern horrors! With an amazing cast and story on a low budget it goes to show what can be done. This new version is great with superior picture and sound quality and awesome features! Its a must own for all you fans especially, lets hope Evil dead 2 and Army of darkness get the same treatment.

Great film but not on blu-ray....

Well the stars are for the transfer onto blu ray & not for the film, this has to be one of the best horror films ever,i know the effects are very dated but don't forget this film was made in 1981 but still doesn't take away the fear factor. But the transfer onto blu ray is rubbish the sound is not bad, i was very dissapointed with the picture ,i know that there are a few films made around that time that have been transferd very well so i know it can be dunn, so get the dvd version instead .

 early horror master piece

Iam a great fan of this film, brought it on vhs, then sterio vhs, then on dvd,(only to find uk version is cut),then on U.S region 1 uncut. with the book of the dead. the problem i have now is blu-ray. I have had blu-ray for years now so appriciate benifits, but fail to understand what it can add, the evil dead was filmed with cheap non digital cameras, film is grainy which in some ways adds to the overall effect, just do not see how it can look better.the effects are good, but very basically done, cleaning up the picture if atall possible may well expose the flaws. having said that a re-mastered sound track if in dts master might add to the jumpy bits. that said its a GREAT FILM.
i hope that someone who has seen the original with out the cuts and know what they are will review this film stating if it is uncut.

The Evil Dead truly is one of the best 80's splatter films ever made. The gore got it banned for sometime when it first got a release but boy am i glad it eventually came out and got an uncut version. Sam raimi and bruce campbell are a great match up when they did this and i still think this is sam raimi's greatest horror achievement, although i liked the sequel even more than this but i think that played it more for laughs. A must have if you like your horror gory and pretty damn strange at times.
