Alien Anthology: Limited Edition Collector's Set - With Illuminated Egg Statue (Blu-ray)

Finally the wait is over. The greatest action/horror series ever has been given the frame by frame Lowry restoration it deserved. Lowry describes the restoration process as overcoming three obstacles: wear and tear, age, and multiple generations of optical copies. Each frame is scanned into a high-resolution digital format, where the computer first checks for standard problems like size alterations or jitter. Then the files go through the lab's render farm for speck removal, which is then eye-checked frame-by-frame. The system works natively in 32-bit floating point, can process any format like HD and 4K, and outputs to a pristine digital master. Lowry software is also used to minimize grain in image quality, even in modern major motion-picture releases like Miami Vice and Zodiac.

With over 60 hours of special features and combined with this amazing Egg and Guardian Statue from the world leaders Sideshow Collectibles, this is the package to pre-order.

My only concern is that there are only 5000 of the Egg statues being produced and unless Play.com has a definite reserve we in the UK may miss out again. So fingers crossed and roll on October 25th!

What a great purchase this is. Yes it is a bit expensive but this is a Limited Edition Collector's item so will improve in value over the years should you ever consider being mad enough to sell it! Have now watched all 4 films and they were all excellent quality both in picture and sound and I've still got all the extra's to watch - if I have enough hours left in my life to do so. I cannot see the 1 star review that others have mentioned (I can see a three star one) but I do not see how anyone could give a rating like that for this release. They must have very dodgy equipment, that is all I can say. It is 5 stars all the way and I advise you buy one before the stock runs out, otherwise - YOU WILL REGRET IT!! Fantastic.

The Picture quality looks great on all the movies, but the stand out is Aliens which has never looked better. Ignore the 1 star review as his TV set must be broken

The sculpt by Sideshow is as fine and detail rich as most of their peerless work, but the shoddy, cost-cutting manufacture and execution (cheap, lightweight plastic mould, minimal paintjob, dim and ineffective lighting fx, rickety box/base etc. etc.) has obviously diminished what could have been a very handsome, quality piece...still, its scarcety should see it hold its value, at least while blu-ray is the predominant home videoformat..I'm now hoping that the forthcoming Avatar collector's box is something a little more special.

Received the box set today. Just had to have it even though I had to pay 30 pounds in customs (darn Norwegian import rules). I am 98% happy, the only thing that they could have done better is give these individual numbers and make the egg feel a little less "plastic".
Batteries included was a plus =P
Contents and quality of films + extras is perfect!
