The Lovely Bones is a decent little movie adapted from a big selling and much loved book.
But for me that's the problem, the fact that it's a decent little movie from the maker of the epic Lord of the Rings trilogy and King Kong.
I have not read the book. but was expecting another amazing experience. I think I set my expectations too high on this one.
Anyways the film is still pretty good, good Story, well Acted with a great Bad Guy. Some good moments of tension.
The settings of the 70s was well created. That's all really.
Watch it when you get a chance, maybe lower ur expectations for Peter "Lord of the Ring & King Kong" Jackson's latest

 Beautiful, Powerfull, emotional......

I don't know where to start with this review but here goes... I watched this film without knowing what it was really about, apart from the fact that a 14 year old girl was murdered and stuck between "the two worlds".
I should of knew what to expect with Peter Jackson and Steven Speilberg being involved but I thought I would give it a chance.
The film is beautifully shot with a real 70's feel and some excellent acting (especially from Stanley Tucci) and you never really know where the film is going until the young girl is murdered and taken into "another world". This is where the Blu ray really comes into it's own with bright, vivid and beautiful scenery.
The story is brilliantly told, and the acting is first class in my opinion with a real strong, powerful story.
It won't be everybodies cup of tea, but I say give it a go! I don't think you will be disappointed.

Amazing film in every way, fantastic story that's very sad and emotional and creepy yet at the same time really enjoyable and draws you in keeping you interested about how it will play out, very original and well directed by Peter Jackson, certainly one of better movies, the cast is amazing and all play their character really well, this is a simple movie yet highly entertaining and beautiful to look at with some top notch fantasy effects, it starts off very disturbing but pays off in the end, a must see.

 Outstanding and Moving.

Always adored Saoirse Ronan but she makes this film come alive, absolutely fantastic movie and incredible cast. Could watch this movie over and over again, love it.

 Heart wrenching...

I'd already seen this film several times before committing to buy it on Blu-ray. I haven't read the book so apologize' for that. Every time I'd seen it appear on the TV listings after watching it the first time it filled me with a strange feeling of despair, like I don't want to watch it again, but I actually really do. The only other film that makes me feel like that is Saving Private Ryan, which is an immense film but it's so graphic and feels so real and personal that it's painful to watch. In The Lovely Bones I put that down to of course the subject matter. This film every time I watch it takes me through so many emotions and even though I know the ending I still find myself hoping she's going to be found safe and well. I think it's the sort of film that stays with you long after it's ended. While watching it I feel an immense feeling of what I can only describe as extreme grief, but by the end I'm left with a felling of closure and hope. Neither me nor my family have ever gone through any of the tragic events portrait in this film so to create such strong emotions I can honestly say the director, producer, etc and all of the talented cast have achieved exactly what they set out to do, which is why I've given 5 stars. Also I think the young actress who plays Susie has a very bright future ahead of her, fantastic performance....
