Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are outraged that Karl has written off the Seven Wonders claiming they're all "a bit s**t" having never seen any of them with his own eyes. They've thrown down the gauntlet to send him around the globe to force him out of his comfort zone. Stephen wants the experience to broaden Karl's mind and change his outlook on the world. Ricky wants Karl to hate every minute of it for his own amusement.

Despatched on what many would term a journey of a lifetime, the 'little Englander' will be putting his misgivings to one side as Karl finds out for himself what the fuss is about. He will travel to the Great Wall of China, Christ the Redeemer in Brazil, Petra in Jordan, Machu Picchu in Peru, Chichen Itza in Mexico, the Taj Mahal in India and the Great Pyramids of Egypt. Meanwhile Gervais and Merchant will be keeping a watchful eye from London, monitoring every step of Pilkington's journey.

 Funniest thing i have ever seen.

After watching the first episdoe i immediately pre-ordered the series. I have never laughed so much in my life. From every little comment Karl has to his funniest reaction. Karl manages to pull off what any other travel show have never, and probably wouldn't want to do. And that's showing every little flaw he comes across. He rarely says anything good about the places he goes to if anything at all, and ive never laughed so much in my life. A must see for any comedy fan. Looking forward to the rest of the series, and a great collection to have on my shelf.

Never heard of Karl Pilkington, got this on the basis that Ricky Gervais was involved in it.
And as with most things involving Ricky Gervais, it turned out to be a very good laugh.
Karl Pilkington and his views on other Cultures, Countries and People is just hilarious.
The Countries visited are all interesting, and you get a tourists eye view of the countries and people,
as opposed to the perfect view you get on other travel shows.
Funny, Informative and Different. One to Watch.

 The 8th Wonder?

Watch out, the title is a little esoteric; Karl is far from stupid. We're all familiar with the podcasts, the extras on the DVD of The Office, yet this doc manages to perfectly situate you between the exotic 7 wonders and the far from exotic perspective of Pilkington.
Not as clever as The Office, or as subversive as Extras, it stands on its own amongst the three as being the most honest, and reflective of the stereotypical Englishman. It makes for hilarious viewing; his seemingly ad-libbed one liners and puerile, contradictive approach to man's greatest achievements are clearly the highlight, coupled with some cruelly amusing situations Gervais and Merchant put him in.
As with all their work, it's a love - hate relationship, but the viewer is left wondering whether Karl could qualify as the 8th Wonder of the World. Highly recommend.

 Brilliant

This show is brilliant. If you have the BD or DVD then you MUST get the book, if you have the book then you MUST get this series.

Funny, informative and told from the "everyman" POV, you will not regret picking this up.

 Karl = Genius, that's right, he's a genius I tell you

Loved every moment of this series. Karl is a comedy legend and deserves the success that this show has brought. I know there is mixed opinions about Karl but anyone who dislikes him... well the humour has simply gone straight over their head in my opinion.

This show is more cleverly put together than it would first seem and I recommend it to anyone who fancies some great down to earth fun.
