A film you would only watch once but worth the watch, its just like any other exorcism film (predictable)

  Terrible!

I actually paid to see this in the cinema and what a let down! It wasn't scary, it was very predictable much like Paranormal Activity which I also cannot stand as they just show the same things that are 'expected' without a good story line. By the end (and this is no joke) everyone in the cinema stood up and said "Is that it?". All of these paranormal films are getting worse and worse because no one does anything new with it. "The Exorcist" and "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" are probably the only 2 decent films like this I have seen. Though not scary, they are two different takes that I have quite enjoyed. Yes both take on the expected as well but they are far more entertaining in terms of the story and how they use the 'typical' actions associated with possession. Don't waste your money on this! It is boring and the ending will just irritate you and make you hate it more. If I could give it 0 stars I would.

Not what you expect, and that's good isn't it?

From looking at the box cover I expected this to be a straight forward priest takes on the might of all evil film, but it's not that at all. Well it is a bit but not really. The photo which gives an impression of the demon/girl hanging off the wall doesn't really reflect the film at all, well not really. If that scene happened in the film I must have missed it, but I did see something similar so I think they used a bit of photoshop here? I nearly couldn't be bothered to watch the film based on the first 10 minutes and didn't really get the start at the time but when you know where it leads it all fits in place. Don't believe the negative reviews as this film is better than they're saying and whilst there were some gaping holes in the plot I enjoyed my time watching it. It's an entertaining one and an half hour film that's worth a look, and will only disappoint if you're expecting a blood fest.

  Intelligent thriller, bad marketing.

The reason for the 2 star average on here is because of a mislead audience. From the trailers people expected a pure horror film.. This is a faux documentary exploring whether a possession was real or purely psychological, and you won't know until the very end. Says a lot for the acting. It is a debate of science vs superstition. The priest is a genuinely interesting character. The ending was damn clear, whether you liked it or not. There is no vague ending. It was quick, surprising and made you feel unsafe. The film was intelligent, and used some great trickery in how it is filmed. They did a lot with a hand held camera. Actually much better than most standard horrors, with more blood and "shocks" the film would have been received well. This is a psychological thriller. I think the main problem is not with this film but a misguided audience. If you are looking for the next "Saw" or "The Grudge" look elsewhere, and please don't compare to The Exorcist, they are totally different films, each with a different purpose.

Sort of watchable, but a poor build up to a poor finish. Don't bother. The Exorcist is the benchmark for this genre and still the best.

  Definitely different

This film was totally not what i was expecting and for this same very reason, a lot of people panned it. As an avid film fan - especially horror - i don't often find myself surprised and having no idea where this film is going, whereas watching this film I really was surprised because I expected an average run of the mill jumpy rip-off of the classics.

The ending will definitely divide viewers BUT If you want something different, seek this out. That said, I wouldn't pay more than ten pounds but it's a good little film that isn't scared to be different. A lot of people are also associating this with The Exorcist, but it has nothing to do with it and isn't a remake like I've heard one or two people misconstrue.

  DON'T BOTHER

You would think that if a film crew were really going to film an Exorcism the camera work would be hell of a lot better this this.... instead it's filmed in the very shakey "blair Witch" ..annoying style...The horror is lost...DON'T BOTHER

  'OH DEAR'

| | See all rbmusicman's reviews (894)

this is as has allready been pointed out a 'low budget movie'
the film is done in similar fashion to 'paranormal activity' which sadly was a oppertunity missed as the basic idea was 'sound'
however the film failed to deliver any real sense of 'horror' and yes fell well short of the standard set by the 70's 'THE EXORCIST'
as with films like 'blair witch' and 'paranormal activity' you'll probably feel the need to see this because of the 'hype' recieved, if you don't expect too much you may well be ok with it.

  Good low budget horror

This film is a very good low budget horror movie. But their isn't enough horror moments and when there were those jumpy moments it is very predictably when they would occur.

This film kinda reminded me of The Blair witch project quiet beginning picks up in the middle and a shock at the end (i wont spoil it for you)

i gave this film 3* because there is not enough scares in the film and after watching the original The Exorcist you will be disappointed. Clever ending tho.
