Maddie Curtis (Monica Keena - Freddy vs Jason) and her friends Lily, Suzanne and Colin (Edward Furlong - The Green Hornet, Terminator 2) are ready for a great Halloween night at the notorious Broussard mansion in New Orleans.

The party's host Angela (Shannon Elizabeth - American Pie, Wes Craven's Cursed) throws a debaucherous party where anything goes! However the house holds a horrible secret ...

The guests soon discover the gates are locked and the house is home to demons looking for seven vessels to break free of their ancient curse.

Who will make it through the night and stop the evil forces from spreading into the world?

This movie is brilliant in every way, a fantastic remake with a few changes to the story but still has many scenes from the original. This is such a fresh horror after all the zombie and slasher films its great to see some good old fashioned demons for a change! This is very evil dead style stuff with some awesome make-up effects for the demons which all look great and there is some cool gore moments too, the cast is good too, over all this is a smart fresh horror thats worth checking out if you love this genre!

After re-watching the original 1988 movie there was no denying that it needed to be remade. The new version follows basically the same plot, but with a few added twists and alot better acting. The Demons do take a while to appear but when they do they are nice and grusome. Edward Furlong (the kid from Terminator 2) makes a pretty good anti hero although the years in "B" movie abyss have not been kind and he seems a little on the tubby side. The film never aims to be anything than a playful gorefest and compared to the original this film is much funnier. It's got great music, brilliant gore and is very well directed for what is obviously a low budget film.
If you like your horror full of splatter, full of teens that are obviously in their mid-twenties that never takes it's self serious this is a perfect nights disposable entertainment.

 A right old horror show

It's not the just the luckless cast of bland all-American teens (all with boob jobs, in the girls' cases) who have to endure a night of the demons in a haunted house. This is so dreary and so familiar and so not interested in tackling anything remotely innovative in the genre that it feels like we're living out that night in real time too. Kudos to Keena's character though for being an instant expert in deciphering unreadable wall etchings and thereby figuring out how to thwart the demons. Yeah, right.
