Sucker Punch is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what's real and what is imaginary.

She has been locked away against her will, but Babydoll (Emily Browning) has not lost her will to survive. Determined to fight for her freedom, she urges four other young girls -The outspoken Rocket (Jena Malone), the street-smart Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), The fiercely loyal Amber (Jamie Chung) and the reluctant Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish)-to Band together and try to escape their terrible fate at the hands of their captors, Blue (Oscar Isaac), Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino) and the High Roller (Jon Hamm).

Led by Babydoll, the girls engage in fantastical warfare against everything from samurais to serpents, with a virtual arsenal at their disposal. Together, they must decide what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive. But with the help of a wise man (Scott Glenn). Their unbelievable journey-if they succeed-will set them free.

This has to be one of the most visually stunning films in years, the effects are top notch and the action is fast and furious!! There is a incredible originality to the story which is a times very exciting and sad at the same time, the cast is fantastic all of the girls are amazing and beautiful, this is a must see and one of the best films of the past year, the extended cut is 17 minutes longer so you get more action than the theatrical release. If you want to escape the usual run of films that are out this will offer something very unique.

This film is much like the girls in the movie.... Mental!
It's as if Director Zack Snyder ( Dawn Of The Dead Remake, 300, Watchmen) has picked his favourite films and other things that look cool and slammed them into one. The plot is off it's head, it should not work, but somehow it does perfectly as we get swept off into Babydolls fantasy worlds and end up watching the girls of the mental home fight off Gas Powered Zombie Germains in the trenches of WW1 armed with state of the art weapons. Fight giant ancient Japanese Warriors with mounted gattleing guns. Get attacked of Dragons in middle earth while they fight back in a B25 bomber and defuse a nuclear bomb on a train full of ninja robots. All these fantasy elemements supposed to have something to do with the girls tasks as in steal a map, lighter and a knife, but to be honest it's just a reson to throw loads of cool looking things at the screen. Each of the fantasy worlds have it's own soundtrack and the music is simply brilliant, adding to this the sight of Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudges and Jamie Chung scantly dressed dishing out death and destruction is enough to make any fourteen year old boy froff at the mouth. This is a movie for the X-Box generation, and although it may be shallow and style over substance the movie is truly breath taking in it's ambition, but underneath the surface lurks are very dark side of abuse, that is hinted at, and although it only scratches the surface to give the film the 12 cert is a little lean, as this is a strong 12 and not a fluffy family film.
The Blue Ray is amazing and this does offer the much better extended cut and as usual has plenty of great bonus features.
This is a mind blowing experience that may not be every ones cup of tea, but it's the ambition on the screen as well as the eye candy that truly resonates.
It's mental, twisted, but brilliant. Just go with the flow!

Really enjoyed the directors last 2 movies, 300 and Watchmen, especially Watchmen.
And that was the main reason to watch this movie, as was looking for something different with stunning imagination.
The movie delivers a Comic Book Style Fantasy World in spades. I personally loved it.
The story and the characters are engaging, the look is Spellbinding and the Action Sequences are very imaginative.
The movie has had pretty poor reviews in press, but I was glad to have the opportunity to watch something a little different.
