the only thing worse than an awful horror is a sequel. this is just as bad as the first movie. there is one jump in the whole thing and apart from that you might as well be watching paint dry. fans (if there are any) of the first movie will undoubtedly like this but if you're not an american student then avoid!!
i went in thinking i wouldn't jump or scream........boy was i wrong i was affraid to go home and it definitly made me scream. very scary = very entertaining i had a good night
This was a terrifying film, really worth a watch! Better than the first definitely!
To appreciate this quick off the mark sequel to the 2009 no budget global smash, you have to have liked the original. This is a prequel that sets about the story that leads up to the 2009 movie.
For the first hour it's more of the same, as this time we are introduced to a new family who are about to welcome their new born son home. As you would expect we are treated to the usual noises of foot steps, unexplained drafts and a strange break in where the intruders steal nothing, leading up to the family fitting of six CCTV around the house.
Then sixty five minutes into the movie we are treated to the first shock, that somehow I somehow managed to tip a glass of red wine over my new top!
For the remaining thirty minutes we are then treated to some brilliantly executed jolts that even manages to out-do the now famous bed drag from the original.
All this leads to a unexpected ending that follows on from the aftermath of the 2009 movie that will no doubt lead to a part three.
Paranormal Activity 2 is better than I expected, but not quite as good as I dare hope, as it is more of the same, but with so may good scares it is a very worthy sequel.
see if you liked.

If Oren Peli's acclaimed low budget Horror shocker scared you last time then chances are that Tod Williams' sequel will scare you again. On the face of it PA2 is tut tut sequel rubbish but don't judge by appearence and watch the film and you may just find quite the contrary. This is a well written, reasonably scary little sequel, in which the flaws of the first film (namely the lack of activity on occasions) are corrected. The characters are more likeable and real, Katie and Micah were not terrible people last time but some of their decisions were a bit puzzling. The tension is maintained very well and with more happening and bigger more impressive payoffs. The security camera footage makes it all feel more real and approriate witrh some brilliant multiple shots almost playing out like a real life poltergeist youtube video. The plot is actually better written with a direction and the film as a whole is better than the last one, shockingly. Still leave well alone if you were unimpressed last time round because in terms of scare tactics and devices little has changed.
