I bought the first season of Vampire Diaries on Blu-Ray and I thought it was definitely worth it. I loved it and on Blu-Ray it was even better. The graphics were brilliant and the Vampire Diaries is one of the best series out at the moment, in my opinion. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, especially since Season 2 is even better than Season 1, which is a bar hard to beat, since most series' flop in their second season.
