Burke And Hare is a comedic take on the true story of the Edinburgh body-snatchers William Burke (Simon Pegg) and William Hare (Andy Serkis). These two Irish entrepreneurs, spurred on by a chance meeting with a gorgeous actress (Isla Fisher), discover that a dead body can fetch a hefty price when the demands of the leading medical professors Dr. Knox (Tom Wilkinson) and Dr. Monroe (Tim Curry) reach beyond that of the local supply.

 Loved it!

I wanted to see this because it was the first John Landis film in some time, but I wasn't really expecting it to be very good. I'm glad to say I really enjoyed it.
The film looks good with great locations, giving good atmosphere, has a good score, has some really good laughs and is all round good fun with a lot of familiar faces showing up throughout. If you're a John Landis fan you should really enjoy it.

I'm Scottish and thought the cast did a good job with the accents too.

The Blu-ray looks and sounds great. There's an hour of on-set interviews with cast and crew. Deleted scenes and outtakes.
I was really disappointed though that there was no John Landis commentary, or any commentary.

All-in-all a good film that should have been a hit.

As good as Hot Fuzz or Shaun of the dead !

Like the saddo I am I went to the cinema to watch this whilst my wife's car was being valeted, and I was glad I did.
Absolutely brilliant, humour and gags throughout, slapstick and dark humour aswell.
Film moves along at a good pace and is very enjoyable.
I will be getting this on Blu Ray on the day of release without a doubt, be sure you do you will not be dissappointed.
Like the title says on a par with Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the dead!

The true tale of the notorious grave robbers/murderers of 1820's Edinburgh gets a jokey treatment from John Landis, Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis are the two Irish Corps peddlers and in this account of the events are portrayed as loveable chancers. There are many famous faces that pop us in typical Landis cameo spots such as Christopher Lee, Jenny Agutter and Stephen Merchant to name but a few. Ronie Corbett struts amusingly as a pompous half-pint miltia captain, but the films tone is slighly off balance and although at times very funny, some of the humour feels forced, and the romantic side story is a bit dull and redundant.
Gore fans will love the great makeup effects. The period detail mixed with the cold harsh winter setting is ladled on generously.
After a decade long break it's always good to see John Landis back, after a string of disasters (Blue's Brothers 2000 & Beverly Hils Cop III) even if American Werewolf In London and Trading Places seems a very long time ago.
See if you like.....
Mary Shelly's Frankenstein.(1994)
From Hell.(2001)
Living Doll.(1989)
Reanimator (1985)

 Terrible!

I'm a big fan of Simon Pegg and John Landis so it pains me to say this film is terrible. I heard this was bad so avoided it at the cinema, the reviews above made me think I'd been to hasty to dismiss it and as its a low price I took the chance, how I wished I hadn't, tired old jokes that just aren't funny. such a waste of time, talent and 6.99. save your money folks!
