I had mixed feelings about watching this, but went for it and though i can see why some would hate it,i did find most of it funny.
It's seen as the best comedy for ages by many,i simply cannot agree. A film about a thirty something woman sleeping with a moron because she's losing self worth, life gets worse, then she gets the job of maid of honour to her best friend. There are a lot of scenes that are bound to get most people laughing so long as very crude humour doesn't offend...and the humour is very crude. I half expected to hate this movie, truth is,i just hated some of the characters. For me,the main character is annoying and hard to sympathize with,i just feel she should've been played by a much funnier actress, someone naturally funny rather than desperate to be seen as funny. A lot of the jokes could be seen as desperate for laughs, but most of them do manage to actually be funny, such as the scenes where the 2 main friends of the bride to be are trying to get one over on each other and the food poisoning results. The cop i found very likable and some of the other charcters came across well if perhaps a little overplayed, but some, such as the f***buddy just had me shaking my head that people like this really do exist, but i suppose that's just the actor doing his job.
All in all,i'm not as impressed as most, but will hold my hand up to laughing quite a lot even if i refuse to see it as brilliant. So 4 stars because i enjoyed it for the most part, but at the moment,i just don't see it as a 5 star film.

Am I the disappointed one. I had heard great things about this film but when I got round to viewing it, it was a witless waste of time. Poor script and populated by characters one could not care less about it was dreadful. How it has been so successful is totally beyond me.

I'm a little stumped by all the hugely positive reviews because I really found this almost totally unfunny from start to finish thanks to a whole bunch of characters that aren't really likeable.

Scripted by and starring Kristen Wiig from Saturday Night Live the biggest problem is her own character Annie. She's so flat and lifeless it's impossible to root for her even a little bit. The rest of the characters aren't all that more interesting and half of it feels like a selection of comedy skits stretched out to over two hours by the thinnest of plots.

I was really surprised I found myself being this hard on it I have to be honest..............but this did utterly nothing for me at all. Not even a little bit.

No no no please stop this!!!!

Not the kind of film id usualy buy, to be honest its not the kind of film id even watch, so when i was subjected to this garbage i knew it wouldnt be long before it was ejected, probably about 20 minutes in fact, the reviews on the box 'very very very funny' ect are complete lies, the laughs are as elusive as a 'Higgs-Boson 'particle, its my own fault i knew i shouldnt have bothered but at least my curiosity has been quenched and i wont ever be tempted again to borrow a supposed comedy from ???? you know who you are, mind you even they thought it was rubbish, and did warn me, but sometimes you fall into the trap and need to punish your senses to snap out of it.

  Annoying Lead Character.

Bridesmaids is a comedy starring Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Chris ODowd, Matt Lucas and Jon Hamm.

There are a couple of funny moments in this movie but not enough to earn the comparisons it received with The Hangover. The filmmakers have added in some gross-out humour but it seemed at odds with the rest of the movie.

The main problem I had with this movie is that the Kristen Wiig character is quite unsympathetic. Far too often I found myself getting annoyed with her and wishing she would stop acting like a brat.

The movie also suffers because unlike The Hangover too many characters in Bridesmaids are undeveloped and get lost while the movie follows the Wiig characters rather dull love life.

There are some funny moments in Bridesmaids but its ruined by a whiny annoying lead character and an underdeveloped supporting cast.

It's coming out of me like lava...

Bridesmaids is a must see chick flick, for men and women! It seems to just get better with repeat viewings. At first I found it a little too long and different than I thought but that was mainly because I had heard so often it was a girls verson of the Hangover of which I feel it isn't. If it hadn't already been used the appropriate title for this flick would be Maid of Honour, as it really is a one woman show. It is very sweet and warm and written beautifully and naturally and very often it is laugh out loud funny and on repeat viewings you find more funny things that you missed the pervious times. Kristen Wiig is fantastic and one to watch for the future. The supporting cast do brilliant jobs too. The picture on blu ray is pretty fantastic and there are some good special features most notable is the very funny gag reel. If you haven't seen it, don't hesitate. A must for men, women, quiet nights in or having all your mates around, and one you'll watch over and over.

Possibly the Worst film I have ever seen

I borrowed this off a friend, had really wanted to see it following all the hype & great reviews, I am SO glad that I didnt buy it. My wife & I watched it with two friends, after 45mins, we all looked at each other & declaired this film to be utter rubbish....so we turned it off.
Borrow it before you buy it.

  A couple of laughs....

I am sorry to have to be in the minority here, but this was not the great comedy event that it is billed to be. I am also sorry that I 'used up' a couple of valuable hrs sitting, waiting, wanting this film to be good. There was potential, the food poisoning episode which was obviously supposed to be the height of hilarity fell a bit flat as it was all a bit..... Clean. There were a couple of amusing bits in amongst a generally drab and formulaic plot but mostly it wasn't worth the effort. Disappointed.
