Kramer Player your argument about old films is redundant. Admittedly The Breakfast Club on Blu Ray isn't amazing by modern standards but it is leaps and bounds better than the DVD, especially at 5.99, which I bought it for. Old films benefit massively by being in HD, especially ones shot on 35mm or 70mm. Take a look at Ben Hur, Cleopatra, Tora,Tora,Tora, Guns of Navarone and Zulu. All are old films but look amazing on Blu Ray.

I can't begin to tell what an impact this film had on me. It's such a great example of the genre. If you've never seen it and you have even the tiniest bit of heart, do yourself a favour and watch it now! The script, the music and all performances are spot on but it is, of course, a product of its time so beware.
Please don't think I'm being abusive but I must highlight a point in KramerPlayer's previous review. With regard to their comment, "I don't understand why they feel the need to convert old film to Blu-ray because they will never come out in true HD"... this movie (along with millions of others since the dawn of cinema) were shot on "film" and as such can be very easily telecined to the HD format. Please don't assume that because something wasn't shot in HD it can't be HD! A 35mm film print is more than capable of producing stunning HD video.
Seriously, you have got to love The Breakfast Club, even if you're really a fan of teen films. What this does for the teen film genre is give the audience a light hearted look at how students behave together, when under the watchful eye of a superior. In this case, during detention, the teenagers get up to a bit of mischief, whilst we learn alot about them too.
This is my favourite of John Hughes' films, and probably the best teen film ever made, and deserves to always be remembers, just like it's creator.
brilliant film from a great era 80 legends, shame about the audio and its also a rather grainy transfer, im using high end av components and it does expose the picture and sound unfortunately, if you have the dvd stick with that .
This is such a fantastic film. I love the 80's and some of the film were excellent this is a classic example of those films. That said why put it on Blu-ray? It was filmed in 1985 and well therefore not in HD. Honestly save yourself some money and buy it on DVD instead and with the money you save buy Weird Science as this is another great film. I don't understand why they feel the need to convert old film to Blu-ray because they will never come out in true HD and as one reviewer has already said it shows up grainy and poor sound quality. That said I also have high end AV gear and frankly not blown away with HD, I mean it good but meh! It doesnt improve the film so much its worth in some cases twice the price of the DVD version
