I simply loved the whole movie as it is. The actors are great (yeah even the kid!), visuals are amazing and crystal clear - you see every little bit of the action, not a visual mess like the transformers movies (Michael Bay should borrow these animators)
The story is quite alright too (you feel like you heard it before, the presentation will make you forget about that though..)
The robot fights are amazingly realistic and the most exciting thing I have seen on screen for long time.
A little negative, I thought it was stretched a bit too long, maybe it's just me..
Still it is a 5 star movie, good for family too, definitely recommended!!
Real Steel is a sports drama starring Hugh Jackman Dakota Goyo Evangeline Lilly and Hope Davis. Real Steel is like Rocky crossed with Over The Top crossed with Transformers. That sounds like a great movie but the script is awful, the acting is terrible and the movie is painfully cheesy. About every sports movie cliche you can think makes an appearance in Real Steel. Dakota Goyo plays the young kid and is very very annoying while Jackman is bland and not nearly as dark as his character wants to be. Night At The Museum director Shawn Levy does a terrific job with the special effects and some of the fights are well staged but the characters are paper thin and every line of dialogue is laughable. This is one of the most cheesy and over the top movies to come out of Hollywood in a long time. At times its so cheesy that its difficult to watch. What a waste of a big budget and great special effects.
So it has been decided that boxing is too barbaric and dangerous and it is much better to have robots do it. O.k lets go then!! If you took the kid out of it who is possibly the most annoying little... person ever to grace the silver screen, this was quite good fun. The format of Blu-ray was made for movies like this and the delivery and rendition I thought was very good. The movie itself was quite good and safe for family veiwing cos I don't think a single expeltive passed the lips of anyone, well it might have done but it was very light on that kind of thing. All in all not a bad watch.
This movie may actually surprise you, its not bad, it may appear like a transformers rip off but its not at all, its still got big robots punching the hell out of each other but in a more rocky kind of way, the movie has a good story a very warm hearted tale of father bonding with son, its a little predictable right from the start but its worth sticking with because it has great fight scenes, great looking effects and robots and by the end its pretty satisfying overall, worth a watch for an exciting family afternoon with the popcorn.
