The Tourist: Double Play (2 Discs) (Blu-ray)

This is a thoroughly enjoyable movie, with a great cast (inlcuding Venice), an entertaining story and a very satisfactory denouement.

Certainly it's not very cerebral, but in the chewing-gum-for-the-eyes stakes, it certainly hits the spot for me.

I can readily do complex and sophisticated, but sometimes I just want good-looking. That would be Jolie, Depp and Venice, then!

I don't think i've ever cared less about the ending to a film, OK well maybe Brooklyn's Finest, but still the story is so ridiculously farfetched it's just not gripping enough. Jolie is less than convincing in this role and Depp's acting talents are seriously wasted. Considering they have starred in great films like Blow & Changeling this is a massive disappointment.

another good action thriller from Jonny Deep. This is especially good on Blu-ray i enjoyed it alot and it is very good for home cinema and i do reccomend it to you.

In all honesty, I did not find this to be as bad as the word of mouth had suggested that it was back when it first came out in 2010 - however, it's also nothing hugely special either.

Frank (Johnny Depp) a tourist on vacation meets the beautiful and mysterios Elise on a train to Venice, Italy and soon gets drawn deeply into a web of intrigue amidst the canals and glamour of the city. With various intelligence services and officials on the trail of Elise, how far will Frank be drawn in?

It's like a classier and more sophisticated version of 'Knight and Day' but with some of the same problems in as much as there's little true chemistry between Jolie and Depp and the script isn't as twisty as it thinks it is. On the plus side, the fantastic locations in Italy and France are well served by the picture quality of Blu-ray, but that aside, it's not a CGI-fest so perhaps the DVD picture quality would suffice instead for some.

Entertaining, but for me, mostly a one-watch flick.

well, a film starring two such 'iconic' stars would have generated much interest from movie fans, 'angelina jolie' ( laura croft ) and 'johnny depp' ( jack sparrow ) 'wow'
the film itself is enjoyable, constantly displaying the talent the two have to offer.
the story line tells of 'elise' taking instructions from her 'much wanted' lover to meet up and evade those who are on his trail, including 'british intellegence' and the 'mobster' who the 'lover' had stolen 'millions' from.
enter the tourist, 'frank' who is chosen on the train to 'venice' to throw the persuers off the trail by 'elise'
as the pursuers close in 'frank' finds himself dodging 'bullets'eeminly dragged into a position he doesn't understand.
the film has much humour along with a 'guess who' theme, coupled with an element of excitment......well worth a spin.

The Tourist (2010) is a romantic thriller starring Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Rufus Sewell and Timothy Dalton.

This movie is beautifully filmed on location in Venice and has two of Hollywoods best looking actors in the leading roles. Sadly the best thing about this movie is the way it looks.

There is no chemistry between Depp and Jolie. Depps performance is rather boring while Jolie does her best to create a sympathetic charater but fails.

Director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (The Lives of Others) allows the movie to wallow in the beauty of its location and actors and as a result its slow and boring.

Its a real shame because this movie had a great cast, two brilliant writers and a decent director and it really should have been so much better. Its a treat for the eyes but thats about all.

...but is there Norwegian subtitle on this BD? I think Play.com should manage to tell us if there is any subtitles or not, on each film!!!

This has been mauled by critics but do you know for a bit of stylish, elegant and well made escapism, you can't really go wrong here. Jolie and Depp make an attractive pairing and there are some thrills to be had in a lovely location. The sense of fun is kept and yes its a flawed film which gets silly but if you have had a hard day or are in a bad mood, The Tourist just might be the ticket to a smile.

I thought the film was very good not amazing but definetly worth the watch, i will be buying it! Jolie's outfits were gorgeous & Depp was his usual charming self, whats more it was filmed in venice what a fantastic place & for anyone like me who has been there themselves it brings back happy memories. I would definetly recommend this film to family & friends.
