Now, now people let's not lose the run of ourselves here... is this a good film? Yes, it is a very good film but let's not go over the top with how good. I bought this as I like James Purefoy and I was pleasantly surpised at how good it was. Braveheart it is not but very good it is.

  an action packed love story!

awesome love story with plenty of bloody fighting and a really good hd conversion to boot. i didnt know anything about this film before i put it on and i was pleasntly suprised. i found the story gripping the action bloody and the overall experience very pleasing. after the end i really fealt as though id watched a film. and i also found that i could quite easily sit through the whole film straight away which is a good sign. truly wonderful picture. 5 stars all the way. finally a film you can watch with the mrs and not be completely bored to death!!

Great as its very Gorey but severely let down by lack of steady cam in fight scenes Blair witch had steadier camera work also lack of cast and a decent story line made me switch films half way through

  Poor

This is a terrible film. The star cast seem to have suffered a kid's editing process. The dialogue is poor made nonsensical by the editing. The numbers occupying the castle makes the castle unimportant and easy to take. Which bad editing actually shows happening on siege attempts but is removed without explanation by victory cheers and a retreats. I assume most were taken out with boo boos as a poor maintenance schedule of the castle steps caused many trips and falls. Queue about 30 family guy style shin grabbing moments. The buddy build up to the siege where these 7 blokes are put together is jarring. The interactions they have make no sense never having been built up or explained later in the film. The thing with the pigs made me do some reading and it turns out most of it actually happened and it wasn't a complete perversion of history. Even the thing with the pigs. Something wrong when that happens. And why is this film called Ironclad? I feel I must also point out that the mate I watched this with has a history degree and loves this kind of stuff even when they mess around with the facts a little. After 20 minutes he cracked open his laptop. Another 20 he left the room.

I have found Ironclad one of the few films to depict what it was like to be in an age when life was so easily taken. The cruelty that was just accepted as the norm. The gaping wounds inflicted by swords, axes and arrows. The dirt and squalor of those times. There was no need to have a cast of thousands for the battle scenes. There were a handful of men against two hundred or so assailants. There were excellent performances alround, especially Paul Giamatti as king John. Great film.

  Cast Iron Movie!

This is one of the best medieval movies I have ever seen.
The scenes, settings & costumes are so amazing its like having a history lesson as well as watching a great movie.
There's no make up, clean shaven men with designer hair styles & American accents just pure iron, leather, dirt & blood.
Just as you would imagine it would be.
The story is a simple one, for a simple age & is fitting but also keeps you interested.

'IN DAYS OF OLD WHEN KNIGHTS WERE ''BOLD'

this is a gritty and very graphic action-packed movie set in the dark ages during the reign of 'king john'
'thomas' returns to england having served the church in the crusades, he is due to be released from his 'templar' vows, however 'england' is a land ruled by 'king john' who after signing the 'magna-carta' renages on his promise drafting in an army from europe to crush those that had apposed him.
'thomas' along with a small group of battle-hardened warriors aim to defend a stratigic castle in southern england from 'king john' and the drafted-in army......the odds --1000 vs the 20 defenders.
plenty of high drama and action.............worth a spin if yer' into action movies.

the film could have been 1st class but during the fight scenes the camera was all over the place and actually spoilt the film
