Good action... Crazy film... Good 3d too!

Great action and Nick Cage back to his best... also funny in places William Fichtner is hilarious in his opening scene.. I was surprised 3d is really good too, scenes filmed specifically for 3d with axes, coins, explosions, glass, severed hands... flying at you.. A crazy shootout with Nick Cage having a shoot out while errm, how can I put this politely, shoot out while in bed with a woman if you catch my drift.. Its a fun action film.. But its a 18 mind.. Cool.. Yup he's angry..

  a good laugh

This film isn't quite what you expect (a dumb road movie) it has another layer that adds depth to the film. It is over the top, silly and very violent, if you liked shoot em up and films of that ilk you will love this. It is stupid and you can leave your brain at the door but it is really good fun and never intended to be taken seriously.

  Better than expected

When i saw a trailer for this film i thought it was going to be yet another film Cage has done just for the money. I was wrong. This film was a lot better than first anticipated. The fight scenes are great and the car chase scenes are also brilliant. However the real star of the film is William Fichtner. His character of the accountant is so cool, funny and times his delivery to perfection. Really worth a watch.

  Could Have Been Better.

Drive Angry (2011) is a horror action movie starring Nicolas Cage, Amber Heard, William Fichtner, Charlotte Ross and David Morse.

This movie tries very hard to be fun and is reminiscent of a grindhouse movie but sadly there is not a great deal to enjoy here.

Cage appears to be having fun in his role but as usual his performance is over the top and unhinged. Heard and Fichtner fair better in their supporting roles.

Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine) does a great job with the 3D effects but fails to deliver a truely exciting action scene. Lussier really throws everything he has at this movie but its not enough.

Drive Angry has characters you dont care about. Action scenes which are average at best. Horror which just isnt scary. And another silly Nic Cage performance. Its a real shame because there was potential here.

  Really Good Fun...

I really enjoyed this, it's clear after about 2 minutes that it doesnt take itself too seriously and is all the better for it. Nicolas Cage is on usual manic form but the standout character has to be "the accountant" Wiliam Fichter who gets all the best, and funniest, lines. Amber Heard also shows a reat talent for this sort of thing. You do need to take this film with a pinch of salt but as a spectacle it's excellent and the use of 3d is one of the best yet, things are literally flying out of the screen at you. I am not sure how effective this film would be in 2D (I'm not planning on finding out) but I can thoroughly recommend it especially at its slightly lower price point...

  chewing gum.

This film is absolute dross, chewing gum for the mind, its no wonder that only teenagers go to the cinema anymore.I cant understand how Nicolas Cage has even considered being in such a poor effort as this film is.The only thing good about it is the great 3d effects. To sum it all up its sex and gory violence for the sake of it,a real no brainer.

  Good action and thrills

Cage is good and Amber is hot. One violent women and great Dodge Charger even if it was her boyfriend's car. I thought the 3d could have been better and the car sounds even louder exhaust sounds with a more dramatic car chase. For a change the accountant was cool and worth his money! Buy it and you will not be disappointed despite being over critical about the 3D. Still the best 3D action movie i seen.

Just when I had given up on the nose dive of Nicolas cage's career after the pathetic Season Of The Witch along comes Drive Angry that restores my faith in the once great actor.
Don't get me wrong Drive Angry is no classic and the acting by all will never get an oscar, on paper the slim story is terrible, but with it's over the top action and gore it's almost impossible to not get swept alomg with the bedlam, as the film knows how silly it is and it's tongue is firmly in it's rotten cheek.
After escaping from Hell Nic Cage is out for revenge for the murder of his daugher and abduction of his infant gandchild by a bunch of satan worshippers. Even Satan is miffed that his very own fan club is giving him a bad name so he sends his debt collector to help matters played by the always brilliant William Fichter.
Earth bound again Cage goes on a road trip from hell as he partners up with Amber Heard ( so damn fit!) as he hunts down the cult gang and extracts revenge in very graphic and hilariously over the top ways.
The film is nothing more than a "B"-Movie, the CGI is pretty dire, but the real stunts are awesome. Cage is great as the damned anti-hero, far better than he has been in anything in ages.
Amber Heard is plucky, sexy and brilliantly foul mouthed that fits the Grindhouse tone of the film perfectly, but it's William Fichtner who steal every scene to the point where you end up wishing there was more of him in the film.
This is the film that Cage's previous falure Ghostrider should have been but failed.
Drive Angry is anything but subtle, but the sleazy over the top tone is hilarious as much as it's thrilling.
The Blue Ray comes with the 2D and 3D versions of the film, but I cannot comment on the third dimension version as I don't have a 3D TV, but the picture quality is crisp and the growl of the engines of the muscles cars really does test the speakers.
See If you like.....
Death Proof.
Planet Terror.
Crank 1 & 2.
Ghost Rider.
