A mixed bag thriller that has an interesting premise and is directed well but which in and of itself didn't really do a great deal for me after watching it.

Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper) is a writer on the bottom rung of life who one day runs into his ex brother in law who introduces Eddie to a new drug called NZT-48. Taking it, he discovers it's effects are astonishing - he finds he can maximise his brain power to almost infinite levels and become a superior version of himself in every department. Quickly becoming reliant on the drug events (as they do) begin to take darker and darker turns as not only the effects of the drug itself become clearer, but those who want Eddie's secret - personified by Robert De Niro's powerful businessman - also begin to draw near to him.

However, what starts off interesting (if a little far fetched scientifically) and engaging soon begins to take relatively familar twists and turns in pursuit of it's thriller aspirations and eventually comes to a 'wink at the audience' climax that's a bit too easy in terms of wrapping things up. The film certainly does however show that star Bradley Cooper has the charm and ability to headline a film on his own, and director Burger infuses the film with a neat visual flair that helps keep the viewer entertained.

But I can't say that I was left feeling I would watch it again anytime soon.

  Flashy, Glossy & Entertaining.

Limitless (2011) is a thriller starring Bradley Cooper, Abbie Cornish, Anna Friel and Robert De Niro.

This is quite an entertaining movie with a decent storyline and high octane pace. Cooper proves himself a leading man with a charasmatic performance.

Director Neil Burger (The Illusionist) gives this movie a slick and flashy feel which really helps gloss over the more questionable parts of the plot.

Its a well made movie with a strong cast. Its not perfect and some parts of the movie require you to not think too much. But its certainly entertaining and worth a watch.

  Interesting but Flawed Movie

Enjoy this movie to a point,,but it had too many plot holes for my liking.
The film starts off well and the scenes when the Magic pill to utilize the main characters brain kicks in are exciting.
But the ending is just a total KOP out, it's as if the writers of the story just couldn't be bothered anymore. Very disappointing.
Bradley Cooper was good in a proper lead role, Robert De Niro needs someone to remind him that he is, despite some of the garbage he has appeared in, in the last 15 years still one of the Greatest Actors the World has EVER seen. He really needs to stop doing these movies that offer him no acting scope at all
P.S - It is a Myth that we only use 10% o3 20% of our brain, a little reading up on this makes it very clear that this is a common and famous Myth

Great film, poor release, read on

This film was really good, very entertaining, great story and some nice twists.

I'm sorry to say that this version does not do the film justice as it has just shy of a minute cut, dialog changed and scene's tammed.

You can find a full list on the net.

Why we have had this injustice with a 15 rating is beyond me.

If you have a multi-region blu-ray player the US version gives you the choice of both versions, just as the UK release should have done.

5 stars for the film minus 1 for the poor release by Momentum.

this is a ''must -see' movie.
the tale is about 'eddie morra' who leads a pretty mundane life, he write's, however this has not brought about any success...........his life is going nowhere.....until --his ex-brother-in-law hands him an un-tested tablet 'nzt' after a chance meeting.
the tablet suddenly gives 'eddie' a level of clarity-of-mind and a wide memory range.
'eddie'' wants more.............his sudden found knowlege and sharp reactions attract the attention of 'high-flyer's' in the business world along with people that will stop at nothing to obtain the 'tablet'
'eddie's' abilities with the tablet are truly ''limitless'
don't miss it....................enjoy.

Loved the book, liked the film

Yup, it's one of those "It's not as good as the book" reviews...

The book is fast-faced, brilliantly written and exciting to the end... but the ending is rubbish.

The film is equally brilliant, it has a stronger ending... but they utterly forget what to do with Anna Friel's character. In the book, her character's problems are solved by Bradley Cooper's character. In the film, she pops up from time to time, then disappears.

Ah well.

Still a great film, and very entertaining.
