  Truly awful

I am quite stunned to see how many positive reviews there are for this movie here this is a truly awful movie and a real let down as a reboot of the old Schwarzenegger movie and indeed of the Robert E. Howard books.

  100% SATISFIED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really looked forward to this, sword fighting, blood, magic, muscles a real mans film. Having been a fan of the original I thought this could give it the modern revamp it needed. I was wrong.
First of all I'll give it it's due it's a nobel attempt. There's some good action points and good use of some CGI but it just doesn't cut it enough. The acting in it is quite poor in the majority, at points downright shoddy. The plot is solid but could've been so much better. And it's completely different to the original where Arnold was a far more convincing barbarian and the storyline was a far more rewarding and entertaining one.
After watching it and left dissatisfied with the ending I definately think that if Schwarzenegger has watched it he would be thinking there's no competition. And he would be right.

  A Mixed Bag.

Conan the Barbarian (2011) is an action fantasy movie starring Jason Momoa, Stephen Lang, Rachel Nichols, Rose McGowan and Ron Perlman.

This movie is a mixed bag with lots to like and lots to feel disappointed about. The cast is very good with Momoa making a terrific Conan. He looks the part and is actually a very decent actor.

Stephen Lang does a fair enough job with the main villain and the always dependable Ron Perlman is great as Conans father. Rose McGowan has a lot of fun with her character and really stands out.

Director Marcus Nispel (Pathfinder) is technically good and the movie looks very cinematic with some exciting action scenes but Nispel fails to bring depth to his characters or story.

Ultimately Conan does what you expect and can be quite exciting at times but its an empty experience and once watched its soon forgotten.

  Very good action film

I'm a big fan of the original arnie film and I love Conan. The Arnie Conan film didnt stick true to the books but was a good film in its own right. This new version is closer to the books and is full of barbarian action. Love the start when Conan is young and needs to prove himself, I wont ruin it for you though.

i think when watching this one should not make a comparison with the 'arnie' classic of 1981......with this just admire the technical advances made during those years and enjoy an action packed adventure made in the true tradition of the age-old movies which were made for 'pure entertainment'
the story tells the tale of 'conan' who as a young would be warrior he witnesses his father killed by a 'god' asphiring 'war-lord'
'conan' makes it his quest to seek revenge.
the film is 'pure entertainment' ..........enjoy.

  not good

really poor remake with awful special effects, laughable acting and a terrible script. at least with the original, schwarzenneger was a scene stealer but this new, overly groomed hero is more like a kids tv presenter. the blood is always unrealistic and gratuitous. overall id say a huge waste of time and money.

This is everything you want from a top movie blockbuster, action packed and full of fantasy and brilliant effects, if youre a fan of the original Schwarzenegger versions then you should love the new version too, Jason momoa did a great job playing Conan and fit the part well with his massive screen presence, there was a good supporting cast too, Rose McGowan was brilliant as Marique the female villain, at the end of the day its a massive no brainer fun filled action packed bloodbath thats utterly entertaining and a satisfying, definitely worth a watch. Marcus Nispel did a surprisingly good job of directing this after his usual run of horror remakes.

Ok for those who have only seen the Arnie version I'm sorry this movie follows both the books and the comics. Excellent just excellent.
