Over the summer of 1976, thirty-six bombs were detonated in the heart of Cleveland as a turf war raged between Irish mobster Danny Greene (Ray Stevenson) and the Italian mafia.

After turning the tables on loan shark Shondor Birns (Christopher Walken) and joining forces with gangster John Nardi (Vincent D'Onofrio), Greene cuts his ties to the Mafia, and begins moving in on their turf. Surviving countless assassination attempts and killing off anyone who goes after him, Danny Greene's infamous invincibility and notorious fearlessness eventually led to the collapse of mafia syndicates across the U.S. and also earned him the status of the man the mob couldn't kill.

 A movie full of explosives!

I think it was a very good movie. It wasn't how I would expect the movie to be, normally used to Italian mafia, but now they blended in the Irish! Very good acting and lots of action, with shooting and blowing up cars. Movie was top notch!

 Entertaining Decent Movie.

Kill the Irishman (2011) is a true life gangster drama starring Ray Stevenson, Vincent D'Onofrio, Linda Cardellini, Val Kilmer, Vinnie Jones and Christopher Walken.

This movie has a terrific cast but sadly many of them are wasted in forgettable supporting roles. Both Kilmer and Walken only have extended cameos while Jones struggles with his accent.

This movie belongs to Stevenson who is great in the leading role. His performance is both tough and dignified and Stevenson also shows some chops for the drama. D'Onofrio is typically good too.

Director Jonathan Hensleigh (The Punisher) is clearly aiming for a Martin Scorsese gangstar feel to this movie and he gets much of it right but lacks Scorsese's flair and realism.

Kill The Irishman is a good movie with a terrific leading man in Stevenson. It may not be in the class of Goodfellas or even Casino but it is still entertaining.

 great idea....poorly executed

this had all the substance and grit to make it a classic mob story, however some awful acting, poor script writing and dreadful direction just leave the whole thing a total flop. pay attention to vinnie jones' accent its one of the worst ive ever heard!!

Having just watched this movie I disagree with the 2 star review. I took a while to buy this but glad I did eventually. There are a few familiar faces in it, Val Kilmer, Christopher Walken, Vinnie Jones and Paul Savrino from Goodfellas.

Granted its no Goodfellas but its a decent enough movie that is an entertaining. You are left liking Ray Stevenson's character Danny Green. Long story short tells the story of a desendant from Irish immigrants who gets in to union leadership and thereafter involved with crime and the Clevland mafia. Its then a case of survival and pride in equal measures!! Worth a watch
