Battle: Los Angeles (Blu-ray)

This movie wasnt really on my must watch list, but watched it when on Holiday in Dubai.
Was pleasantly surprised, as it is a pretty tense and engaging Action,War,Robot,Sci-Fi flick.
After a brief introduction and a little bit of background info, the viewer along with the Platoon in movie is off on the mission at hand.
The movie throws you into the thick of the action and never really lets up, always Exciting, Visually Creative and above all Entertaining.
It has its fair share of cliches and certain things that are a staple of this genre. But a few of the twist n turns are good.
Aaron Eckhart is top notch in what is a rare lead role for him in a Action Movie, and he is supported well by a motley crew.
The Effects and Action and Aliens are all up to scratch and convincing.
A Solid Entertainer that is worth checking out.

This is a big and bold and epic sci-fi movie!! I loved it, its the years district 9. Fantastic visual effects blended in with realistic warfare and explosions and an epic battle between the human race and an alien invasion! The story was cool, the cast was great, this is a sit back relax and enjoy no brainer popcorn invasion movie pure and simple, certainly a must watch if you love a good original and quality sci-fi action movie!!

Epic?: Surprisingly not so much. Most of it just follows a few typical stereotypical run of the military characters, (a few representing each colour, an imigrant, a woman, the calm one, the hothead, the on with an axe to grind, the joker, the has been, the one with something to prove to himself, etc) and only breif news cast of what goes on globaly.

Impressive?: No not really. There are a lot of explosions, but the aliens look cheap compared to "District 9" and there ain't even a much of screen time for them. Most of the ship designs also seems lifted right out from that film.

Original?: You seriously didn't even expect that did you? The plot is basically exactly identical from start to finish with "Independence day" and the aliens are very similar too! (squid like things in biomech armour) It's almost comical .

Now, I would have no problem with any single one of these points if it was well executed or interesting in another are, but it's not. It manages to be all stupid, uninteresting and annoying at once. If you don't hate most of the characters halfway through this, you should really consider a career in the military. You will then appreciate that 60% of the lousy also otherwise dialogue in the film consists of this phrase: "Sergeant sir yes sir! Affirmative sir, sergeant sir" over and over and over...

So, if you like alien invasions just watch Independence day, again if so be.

If you just want to see some urban warfare (with some shy aliens in the background) go on and see this one, or maybe "Generation kill" gives better value.

I am a lover of Sci-Fi and the Blu Ray Format and was eagerly awaiting this release. Science Fiction is a platform for the imagination without boundaries.
This film fails in every way.
It is neither imaginative, engaging or well acted.
To add insult to injury the Bluray video quality is so dire I actually feel cheated.
How is it that a film like The Fifth Element released in 1997 and way before the advent of Bluray be so vastly superior in terms of picture quality? At times I thought I was watching a VHS let alone a DVD and certainly not a Bluray!
I have owned this film for less than 24 hours and it is simply not worthy to be in my collection. Battle Los Angeles Youre Fired!

Very poor. overly long and filled with every cliche you can think of. They managed to make intergalactic war dull.
