'mick haller' a 'L.A' lawyer is a man with a growing reputation in regards to criminal courtroom success.
he is approached by a wealthy family to defend their son who has been accused of beating up a prostitute.
earlier 'mick' had persuaded a client to pleed guilty to a murder charge to reduce the sentence handed out.
during his defence of the 'rich-kid' 'mick' learns that his client had allmost certainly been resposible for the killing his earlier client had been jailed for.
a close friend and collegue is murdered during the current trial, 'mick' suspects the rich-kid is also responsible for this, however 'mick' will remain professional in his defence of his client.
this is a good and solid movie in which 'mattew mcConaughey excells..........worth adding to your collection.

An engaging and well written film which manages to be thrilling and entertaining with all its cast on fine form.

well acted, written and directed with enough to entertain throughout. a good cast and a nice pace made it easy to enjoy.

Remember McConaughey when he would turn out bland rom-coms one after another, Sahara, Fool's Gold, The Wedding Planner, Ghost of Girlfriends Past. For the past decade McConaughey's movie career has been one big failure to launch,. It was borderline criminal that this actor who proved so talented, check out A Time To Kill, has tended to coast on nothing more than a smile and pec's appeal. But I'm pleased to hear new evidence McConaughey may not be guilty after all.
Exibit "A" The Lincoln Lawyer gives him a killer turn in this smart, slick adaption of Michael Conelly's novel/ This is a fast paced legal thriller, McConaughey plays the slick LA defence Lawyer Mick Haller. McConaughey mesmerises: a wellspring of suave narcissism and disarming charm. Hired to defend a real estate heir (Ryan Phillippe) on a rape and battery charge. Haller quickly realises he's being played. Stripped away from all that self assurance, he endures sweaty self doubt. This is McConaughey's comeback performance that's all the more impressive given the support cast that too are on top form. Wiliam H Macy as a hippie P.I, Marisa Tomei as Haller's Ex Wife, Joss Lucas is just as slick as McConaughey as his opposite. But best of all is Ryan Philippe, with his squid ink eyes that hint monsterous past glimpsed in jittery flashbacks. The film ratches up the tension, multiple camera set-ups giving an edgy intermacy that captures the darker sides of LA culture.The story twists and turns in compelling results and running under two hours makes the film really keep things moving at a fast pace and not for one minute is ever dull.
With three more books in the Haller series, McConaughey may just have found his get out of jail free card.
The Lincoln Lawyer is a brilliant law thriler that should not be missed.
