In the highly acclaimed Stake Land, hailed by some critics as "the American horror film of the year", the US has become a lost nation. When an epidemic of vampirism strikes, humans find themselves on the run. Cities are tombs and survivors cling together in rural pockets, fearful of nightfall. When his family is slaughtered, young Martin (Connor Paolo) is taken under the wing of a grizzled, wayward hunter whose new prey are the undead. Simply known as Mister (Nick Damici), he takes Martin under his wing on a journey through the locked-down towns of America's heartland, battling against not only feral vampires but also the fanatical savagery of the right wing religious cult known as The Brotherhood, in search of the fabled safe haven, New Eden.

There are so many vampire movies out there some are bad others just lead the way like Stake land, this is a very cool very well made horror, its a bit like the walking dead but with vampires, the story follows a group of survivors who are trying to find the way to safety from the world becoming blood thirsty undead and psycho religious cannibals! The effects are great plenty of bloody violence for gore fans, there has not really been any vampire movies this year and this is by far the best one in a while, worth picking up if youre a horror fan, it may not be the most original one ever but its worth the stakes!

 A ''real'' vampire film

I watched stake land having seen good reviews for it in a few film magazines and I wasnt disapointed. This film from start to end is gritty and grim the way a vampire film is supposed to be. Theres no girl falling in love with these vampires only running away for there lives. The film tone is brilliant and they have tried to portray what would happen if in real life vampires were real. The chrachters are brilliant and the film makes you feel part of there story and an ending that will leave you wanting more. Highly recomended.

Tried this because won a lot of awards. I can see why. Naff title and the vampires don't look great, but the film has great characters and after 10 minutes you will realise it's going to be good. It's not an action movie, more a road movie with great cinematography and music. I loved it and expect great things from Connor Paolo.
