8 friends go camping in a place called Hell... a place not many people have ever found. Ellie and her friends find it, perfectly hidden from view. When the trip is over and they return home, they discover everyone gone and homes empty of people.Something horrible has happened while they were in Hell. It doesn't take long for them to realize that their country has been invaded.

Ellie and her friends are now in a state of panic. Do they go back to Hell and stay hidden? Do they wait for the army to come find them? Do they go and help rescue their families? How much courage could you muster if your entire family had been taken and how far would you go to free them?

It's a bit like Home and Away and Red Dawn!

I never read the book, so I cannot make a comparison but as a film it not a bad time filler.
This was the biggest grossing film of 2010 in Austrailia and New Zealand.
Although shot on a much smaller budget than any American Block Busters, the movie has a good cast, good acting and some good well staged action and comes off as an updated Austrailan version of RED DAWN. As Austrailia gets invaded by an un-named Asian force ( China?) whilst a group of teenagers were camping. Reality does take a massive back seat with the explenation of how the nameless army managed to invade this massive country, but in the name of entertainment I'll go along with it. The group comeback to find their parents have all been taken prisoner and thier town is empty. But the major concern to the teenagers is how they struggle in their relationships and love life and the invaders are more of a nuisance than a major threat. This is what lets the film down as the love life sub plot to the under developed characters belongs on Home And Away or Hollyoaks, but when they do get their prioritise right and fight back the action is very well done, although according to this film you can get shot in the leg and be walking around in a few days. Also this invading army are pretty useless as they can't shoot straight and can't even outrun a dumptruck with their light weight assault buggy's, so over-running this useless army should not take that long.
It's all very well directed and the Austalian landscapes are beautiful. T.W.T.W.B . is a good teen friendly adventure that leaves thing wide open for the next chapter, and although maybe I'm well out of the age range this film is aimed at, I'll definatly catch up with the next chaper.
See if you like.......
Red Dawn.
Toy Soldiers.
The Rescue.
Iron Eagle
Twilight Saga.
Home and Away.
