The world has many heroes...but only one is a god. When the arrogant warrior Thor (Chris Hemsworth, Star Trek) is banished to Earth from his homeworld of Asgard, he must fight to reclaim his lost powers. Pursued by an invasion force sent to destroy him, the fallen God of Thunder must rise to the battle and learn what it takes to become a true hero. Natalie Portman (Black Swan) and Anthony Hopkins (Beowulf) also star in the blockbuster adventure.

Kenneth Branagh certainly surprised me this year with Thor, I wasnt aware that he could make a film that wasnt boring!! This was actually a very cool film, great story, good cast, and overall more than anything a thrill ride of great action from start to end, if your into marvel comic films then you should not miss this its one of the best in a while.

 brilliant all round film

this is a superb film a lot better than i was expecting bought it in 3d but their is no 3d effects really until the closing credits so not worth getting 3d just buy blue ray and you will enjoy this film.its a shame that these movie companies are trying to rip people off with 3d when they dont put the effort in to use the effects that is out their. their is plenty of oppertunities in this film to use 3d effects

 For all those wondering

This is coming out in 4 formats, 3D Blu-Ray (You will need a compatible bluray player, 3D TV and 3D glasses to view), a 2D Blu-Ray if you haven't got all the 3D gear (yet), a DVD and finally a digital copy.
For the cost this is a brilliant package as it allows you to watch the film now and still watch it should you decide to upgrade your bluray player and TV in the future (as I will next year).
Oh, and it's a brilliant film, one of the best uses of 3D in the closing credits and set's up brilliant for next years Avengers movie.

 Good film!

Better than expected.... worth a purchase. This is leading up nicely to the Avengers movie coming out next year.

Not as good as it could be!

First of all as a child i was a massive fan of Thor probably one of my favourite comic characters growing up. When i heard it was to be made into a film I was thinking brilliant cant wait. I now have decided i could have waited. I thought this has to be one (if not the) worst adaptation of a Marvel Comic to date.

The storyline was awful the acting even worse I could not form any relationship with any of the characters except Hopkins and hoped that they would all be heading to Vallhalla at the end of the film. Lead actor (cant even recall his name) was very wooden, Natalie Portman was terrible and rest looked like they ere in it for the paycheck.

I think the film relied too heavily of the special effects which in my opinion could not save this film. Some of the fight scenes were quite good but without the CGI this would have been a really horrific film.

At the end of the film i only had one question. Is it too late for the producers to pull Thor from the upcoming Avengers movie? Im a huge fan of the Iron Man movies and think Thor in the new movie could detract from him being such a strong character.

Here's hoping im wrong but.....................
