This is a pretty good fun sci-fi film thats an oldschool style blast from start to finish, great story your typical alien invasion where the human race is wiped out and a handful of survivors have to work together to get out alive, the aliens are cool and the cast is good and the effects are brilliant, its simple and easy to watch, well paced out with plenty of action, well worth checking out this is a gem of a movie and an entertaining night in.

Its an Alien invasion that you've never seen before !

A low $30million budget american/Russian collaboration set in Moscow as U.S Tourists on business and pleasure are on the run from invisible alien raiders who seem indestructible but seem hell bent on vaporization of the human race. Shot on 3D cameras so its a who hum Sci-Fi action flick for 3D movie collectors.

Directed by Chis Gorak who is normally famed as the Art Director for Coen Brothers, David Fincher and Terry Gillian movies.

Fans of Skyline which cost $10million by the special effects directors Strauss Brothers should enjoy Darkest Hour.

probably the most intense and exciting alien type film of all time. long gone are the low budget days of yesteryear where a rubber mask and bb gun was enough to call something a hollywood blockbuster. this is full of fun, adventure ,great effects that lookso realistic its hard to tell whats real and what isnt.the story is easily one of the best across all genres but this genre especially, where characters actually dying mean something and its just like a character dying on a long running series rather than some randomer youve never seen or care about.everyone i know thought it was fantastic and far better than most films ever made of this kind.the 3d effects are also fantastic and well worth 14.99 to see it in 3d at home, possibly the best value 3d bluray available

MORE LIKE THE DARKEST HOUR AND A HALF!

For anyone wanting this years Skyline than look no further. The Darkest Hour is the most inept sci-fi movie in ages. The trailers looked good (but don't they all). This film contains some of the most mind numbing moments in recent cinema history. Plenty of not so special effects and a second hand Predator P.O.V.
As electric aliens invade earth and turn us to dust (but not as good as they did in 2005's War Of The Worlds) because they want to mine us of our conductive resources. The aliens look like chinese lanters at best but when they loose their electric shield they end up being some of the most laughable looking critters ever put to screen. The plot holes are glaring as if they don't like water, why come to earth it's mostly covered by water and judgeing by summer 2012 it rains most of the time. The dialogue is dumb and obvious just listen as it has laugh out loud moments such as " If we break through it's shield we can kill it" and not forgetting "It's getting light!" Some of the weapons used by the rebels look like they were cast off's from Blue Peter and Ghost Busters. The acting is average at best and it's amazing how many Russians can speak perfect English. With so many light bulbs used in the film you would think one went off in the executives of 20th Century Fox and realised this was one of the worst scripts in a long time. It's dull to the extream as although the empty streets of Moscow are well done at the start of the film, after ninety minutes of wondering around them they become dull. With no suspense, not enough action, poor script this is a strong contender of the worst film of 2012, the most scary thing about this effort is that the producers sadistically threaten us we a sequel.
It's shocking!
