with a foe that is invisible and kills by touch ( only slightly different to final fantasy the spirit within ) should have and could have been good but it isnt.
ok the special effects are great but the story line is so old and unoriginal and the dialogue and acting is really third rate. by the end i hoped they all die and within an hour so i would save a part of my life i will never get back. save your money and watch on tv. you will only watch it once. will not be long before you can buy second hand for postage costs from those who bought it.
as bad as-
2012
night watch
day watch
priest
shark night
anything on scifi channel involving mutated sharks
skyline
Battle FOR los angeles (not to be confused with Battle L.A)
really really poor movie
For anyone wanting this years Skyline than look no further. The Darkest Hour is the most inept sci-fi movie in ages. The trailers looked good (but don't they all). This film contains some of the most mind numbing moments in recent cinema history. Plenty of not so special effects and a second hand Predator P.O.V.
As electric aliens invade earth and turn us to dust (but not as good as they did in 2005's War Of The Worlds) because they want to mine us of our conductive resources. The aliens look like chinese lanters at best but when they loose their electric shield they end up being some of the most laughable looking critters ever put to screen. The plot holes are glaring as if they don't like water, why come to earth it's mostly covered by water and judgeing by summer 2012 it rains most of the time. The dialogue is dumb and obvious just listen as it has laugh out loud moments such as " If we break through it's shield we can kill it" and not forgetting "It's getting light!" Some of the weapons used by the rebels look like they were cast off's from Blue Peter and Ghost Busters. The acting is average at best and it's amazing how many Russians can speak perfect English. With so many light bulbs used in the film you would think one went off in the executives of 20th Century Fox and realised this was one of the worst scripts in a long time. It's dull to the extream as although the empty streets of Moscow are well done at the start of the film, after ninety minutes of wondering around them they become dull. With no suspense, not enough action, poor script this is a strong contender of the worst film of 2012, the most scary thing about this effort is that the producers sadistically threaten us we a sequel.
It's shocking!
See if you like.....
Sadism.
The Day The Earth Stood Still (2008 remake)

probably the most intense and exciting alien type film of all time. long gone are the low budget days of yesteryear where a rubber mask and bb gun was enough to call something a hollywood blockbuster. this is full of fun, adventure ,great effects that lookso realistic its hard to tell whats real and what isnt.the story is easily one of the best across all genres but this genre especially, where characters actually dying mean something and its just like a character dying on a long running series rather than some randomer youve never seen or care about.everyone i know thought it was fantastic and far better than most films ever made of this kind.the 3d effects are also fantastic and well worth 14.99 to see it in 3d at home, possibly the best value 3d bluray available
the earth is being invaded by an invisible intruder who seeks out and kills all living things, leaving only a pile of dust.
only contact with an electrical source makes the alien visitors partially visible.
a small group of survivors including four americans discover from a lifeless u.s embassy that the attack is worldwide.
a radio message offers them a way of returning home, they have to rendevous with a submarine in a nearby river.
however avoiding the intruders will be difficult, how many will survive the seeminly short but hazerdous treck ?
this is an okay stab at an alien-invasion adventure.....worth a watch.
