The technical aspects of this movie are near perfect. No doubt. I have seen this movie two times within a year. First in the cinema, and on Blu-ray lately. This isn't your typical blockbuster movie, and yet I enjoyed it as one. Even watching it for the second time, I had the same feeling and excitement watching Nemo's life choices and the effects it had on his life and others (mankind too). The special feature of Van Dormaels work is the enormous expressive power and narrative flow. Mesmerizing, the great complexity and the dry humor, are taken up with philosophical questions about the human condition. It is also a great love movie. It works on so many levels. There are also a lot of references to other movies like 12 Monkeys, Butterfly Effect, Truman Show and The Fountain. In the end it is not one of the perfect picture movies of all time, not everthing fits, but it is really not the mess the other two reviewers are describing. So 5 stars from me

  Best movie I've ever seen

Alejandro Jodorowsky once said about is well-known picture El Topo: "if you are great, El Topo is a great picture, if you are limited, El Topo is limited". I think this is the same kind of movie; I'm a writer and I deeply admire this scripture that is (almost?) perfect. I genuinely find astonishing how many people misunderstand it. Characters are really complex as well as their psychologies. I think it's the most meaningful movie I've seen my entire life; probably, it's not a teen-age movie, but I'm grateful there are artists willing to create even for a more mature public. Highly recommended, 'cause you can spend your money once and see it dozens of times without exhaust its meanings. Not to mention the superb direction and photography.
And finally, Sarah Polley and Diane Kruger at their best. And an amazing Rhys Ifans.
And if you are not Jared Leto's fans, you can buy it to see him drowning many many times, with great style, as always.

  No Idea

I have absolutely no idea what this film is really about, what the story is meant to tell or even how it ends.
The cinematography is breathtaking, the acting raw and emotional, but I'm afraid those things alone aren't enough to support something which simply provides the viewer with no understanding, no point of reference and no way to truly relate to people or events.
I watched this film as a big fan of Jared Leto as an actor and cannot fault his performance, nor can I find any flaw with the direction or production, but unfortunately the story, if there truly is one, lets it down and hence I can only bring myself to give it three stars.

  PERFECT.

This film is easily one of the best science fiction drama's ever made, even though it is mostly unknown. The splendid cinematography, editing and visual elements make this one of the films of the decade in terms of stylistics. The Blu Ray transfer is one of the best seen, and with the superb acting of Jared Leto and Juno Temple, makes this film a must own!
