  3D Review - Spoilers

A very enjoyable film, which is sadly marred by mediocre 3D.

Similar to Thor, the 3D is more of an after thought and created post-production. Although it works better for the Captain it's not the best 3D presentation. There are some truly lovely scenes, the snow covered, train scene is wonderful and watching the characters zipline into the distance is excellent as are the final set of scenes which build to the final showdown. But, sadly, a few scenes suffer from lack of depth, the Hydra factory feels flat and on a few occasions I wasn't sure if I was watching a 3D film.

People do "pop" out of the screen, usually after receiving a healthy dose of vibranium to the face, which always raises a smile.

All in all it's a fun 3D film with some good set pieces, but overall poor use of depth makes it fall short of being a must-have.

  An Average Comic Book Movie

A decent film which is improved by the 3d however the storyline is a bit of a joke and some of the characters are stupid and some of the acting is questionable an entertaining film but nothing on Thor/Batman.

  Next stop - The Avengers

Although being called 'The First Avenger' this movie is the last Marvel film before the actual Avengers movie is released. I was quite worried when Chris Evans was announced to play Steve Rogers as he had already played a Marvel superhero before, The Human Torch from Fantastic 4. But, its like he was born to play the Cap. This film covers all bases - action, adventure, romance, sci-fi, you name it, its in here in glorious 3D! Hugo Weaving as Red Skull - genius! And the way this film leads you directly into the Avengers movie (if you stayed until the end of the credits you'll know what i am on about) is fantastic and even gives you a taste of what to expect in the Avengers film with a little teaser trailer at the end. Overall, definitely the best action film of the year, bar none, Only slightly better than Thor. Now we just have to wait until April 2012 to see them both together on the same screen :) If this movies anyhting to go by its going to be epic!!

  Simply Superb!

Best Superhero film of the year and up there with the best Spiderman has to offer
Great effects transform Chris" The Weed" Evans in to Chris "Cap'n America" Evans
Took my boy to see this in the cinema and after a toliet break got back and wasnt quite in the 3D mode and I actually ducked when he threw his shield, not one of my smartest cinema moments, but I suppose that showed the superb 3D elements to this film
A cracking stroyline that bodes well for The Avengers and hopefully some more stand alone Captain America sequels.
Highly recommended

This is by far the best Marvel comic book film of the year, a fantastic movement from comic to screen, Chris Evans is pretty perfect in the lead role and brings allot to the character, Hugo weaving is absolutely brilliant as the villain red skull making him the most awesome villain in movies 2011 hands down!! The story is clever and the ending is very set up for the forth coming Avengers in 2012. And the special effects are very good too, red skulls make-up is fantastic! This stands out much more than any marvel film ever made probably because its more real and down to earth. A must see for any comic fan!!
