Can't say I hate many movies that star Mark Walhberg and this is no exception. Really enjoyable movie which keeps you guessing on the first time of watching. Good all round performances from the cast and Ribsi is excellent. I have added it to my collection. Good storyline.

  FAMILIAR BUT FUN.

Mark Wahlberg adds another remake to his CV. Contraband is directed by Baltersa Kormakur who also produced and starred in the original version Euro-thriller original called Reykjavik-Rotterdam. Wahlberg's a former smuggler coaxed into one last job, which goes predictably awry ( and at time rather implausable as who could rob an armoured truck while waiting for their ferry connection?). But the film is very well acted with stand out turns from Ben Foster and a very seedy Giovanni Ribisi. The film has plenty of tension and some excellent action sequences that lead al the way to a very tense climax that features the worlds loudest mobile phone ( I don't know about you but sometimes I cannot hear my mobile going off in my pocket, never mind hear one over industrial machinary?) It's no classic and nothing new, but with Contraband is a well directed and very enjoyable thriller that leads to a good evenings entertainment.
See if you like......
The Italian Job (2003)
Gone In 60 seconds (2000)
We Own the Night.
Miami Vice (2006)

  'THE DARK SIDE OF LIFE'

'chris farraday' has long since gone legitimate, he has a successful business installing security equipment, he used to do drug-runs, no more'..................until.....his brother-in-law on a drug run is forced to dump his cargo, leaving the local drug-baron out of pocket.
to keep 'kate's( chris's' wife ) brother out of more bother than he can deal with, 'chris' agree's to do one more run to balace his brother-in-laws' dept.
whilst on the trip, the drug-baron threatens 'chris's' family, it now gets personal.
with plenty of double-crossing and action this is a movie worth a spin.
