Mark Wahlberg adds another remake to his CV. Contraband is directed by Baltersa Kormakur who also produced and starred in the original version Euro-thriller original called Reykjavik-Rotterdam. Wahlberg's a former smuggler coaxed into one last job, which goes predictably awry ( and at time rather implausable as who could rob an armoured truck while waiting for their ferry connection?). But the film is very well acted with stand out turns from Ben Foster and a very seedy Giovanni Ribisi. The film has plenty of tension and some excellent action sequences that lead al the way to a very tense climax that features the worlds loudest mobile phone ( I don't know about you but sometimes I cannot hear my mobile going off in my pocket, never mind hear one over industrial machinary?) It's no classic and nothing new, but with Contraband is a well directed and very enjoyable thriller that leads to a good evenings entertainment.
See if you like......
