  IT HAS SOME BITE

| | See all HONESTBAZ's reviews (299)

I was dreading this would be a mistake buy,not so,it's great fun. Some people expect too much of this kind of film and being a shark film,it's compared to JAWS,which isn't fair but is bound to happen,it's no JAWS,but it is entertaining.

What's meant to be a fine time, turns into a nightmare when one the group of friends gets attacked by a shark and loses an arm. Knowing help is needed, they have to find a way to get him across the water which is infested with sharks. The reason it's got so many sharks in it is explained later in a plot i quite liked. So as we see these friends figure out a way to get help, some morons, seen earlier come back into it and make life even harder.

It's a good fun film,if not taken too seriously,of course it's over the top,a lot of these films wouldn't be entertaining if it wasn't for being over the top. The acting's passable, the CGI and such is fine and the story does it's job. Original? No,but who cares when a film is entertaining?
So long as you aren't expecting anything special, you might just be pleasantly surprised. The blu-ray extras are fun too,if a little sparse. I try to take films for what they are,so if they make a SHARK NIGHT 2,i'm interested.

ok the story line wasent all that but 3d effects were very good!
i really would bother watching it in normal bluray or dvd as the 3d effects make the film!
so for the price ill say its worth it!

Pros: Good picture quality, good audio 2 boot, sun, lot of beach wear and some good gore / sharks mixed in, Also 3d blu-ray disk playable and watchable on 2d Blu-ray player and non 3d TV. Same mould as Pirahna 3d, ok for watching wirthout thinking mode

Cons: Been there watch it - same horror shark film as done before doesn't add anything else to the mix.

  "..CHEESY FUN B-MOVIE SHARK FLICK.."

Shark night is rather an entertaining horror film that delivers the basics in story, character development and predictability, this is a very easy on the brain slasher flick B-movie style with sharks, the college kids all get eaten and torn up one by one as the plot unfolds, there is not allot in the way of gore but theres plenty of great scare moments and bloody deaths, this is pure popcorn fun for anyone, the effects are pretty good and the sharks all vary in size and species, this is all very far fetched but very entertaining which at the end of the day is what this type of movie is all about.

  It's no Jaws but........

So what did you expect from the director of Final Destination?
It does as the title suggests it's got Sharks it's at night and was in 3D. So we get some blandly attractive teens on vacation encounter a hungry,craft,co-ed chomping shark. It may lack Jaws's dread, brilliant acting and don't go in the water paranoia, not to mention class and 2010's Pianha's gleeful mayhem, but for all it's limitations there's still enough gore, giggles (mostly unintentional) to satisfy for a bit of guilty pleasure mayhem.
As said it's no Jaws, it's not even Jaws 2, but it's still better than Deep Blue Sea.
See If you like.....
Final Destination 1 - 5
Piranha (1978)
Piranha 3D (2010)
Piranha 3DD (2012)
Snakes On A Plane.
Deep Blue Sea.
Lake Placid.

  The worst film ever!

Do not watch this film, it is cliche ridden poor directed drivel and I would have awarded it 0 stars if I could. If you have seen the trailer you have seen the best scenes, it was so bad I was offended by it! Avoid!

  excellent 3D average film

ok im a big fan of 3D and i try see/buy everything i can in this format, whilst some films can have amazing 3D and story this aint one of them, granted it does have its quick shocks but the story seemed a little too silly for me and there just was not enough gore in it . i was expacting arms and legs flying out of the screen like the technique used in Piranha but it just was not apparant here. At the same time its not the worst film iv ever seen, its an ok watch...once...the kind of film you snuggle up with the girlfriend with. the 3D makes up i suppose for any lack of thrills. im hoping if a sequel comes they really push the boat out (no pun intended) and open up the whole shark attack gore and give it to me how i like it. overall an ok film that could have been so much more......
