Hostel: Part III (Blu-ray)

I cannot stress to you how bad this is. The first was clever. The second advanced on that with a more in depth story that filled in some gaps as well as better gore (if that's your thing). This is just terrible. Follows the story of a bachelor party. About five minutes of gore in all the film and it is tame. A really terrible film. Don't waste your money.

I felt that Hostel was a powerful modern day horror movie as the subject matter was believable and the film had an air of menace about it amongst the gore and the unfamiliar eastern european backdrop.
Hostel 2 was gorier but less powerful as it was hard to take it serious at times and was more camp than the original.
Hostel 3 is in many ways just plain ridiculous. The characters really are dumb (Couldn't they tell the taxi driver was dodgy). Why is the Ukranian guy captured at the start still alive later in the movie while others are despatched instantly. Also none of the characters are that likeable so you don't care when they are killed. The Vegas setting isn't at all scary and the average looking Blu Ray transfer shows how cheap the movie is. The deaths lack little imagination and are rather tame bar the face removal scene at the start( They probally run out of budget after).The crossbow scene is laughable and the cockroach death reminds one of a forefit in " I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here" . This sorry mess then ends in a unsatisfactory conclusion. If you are a true horror fan then I suggest keep your cash and give this one a wide berth.

Hostel films are not the kind of movies you come away saying "you know I really enjoyed that!" well if they are there's something very wrong and you should get yourself checked out A.S.A.P!
They are movies you endure. But in saying that Eli Roth's Hostel Parts 1 & 2 did what they did very well, being both nasty and devilshly darkly funny. Hostel Part 2 for me was actually better than the first, but many would disagree and the movie bombed at the box-office. So as no surprise this direct to DVD release slumps onto the market. The story movse to Vagas (probably due to budget restrictions) and now the now warped minds have given the plot into a high stakes bidding theme. With this being Direct to DVD it filled me with dread being a fan of the first two movies, but to be honest it's not as bad as it could have been, not that I'm suggesting that this is a good movie, but with it's limitations of poor acting un-wise re-locating that comes off as a Hangover Part 3 reject. The movies at least offers some good twists especially the good wrong footing of the viewers expectations in the opening scene. But what it gains in the twists it wastes on losing the smarts of the first two films and the final long winded chase is just dull. Also there seems to be a serious lack of gore compared with Hostel 1 & 2 which I suspect is down to the budget. On the whole it's not a patch on the originals, so don't even go comparing it to them. But with a few good twists just about makes this un-needed third entry watchable....... just!
If you have to add it to your collection thyen save your cash as I suggest you buy the DVD version as there is no real improvment in the picture and the bonus features on Blu Ray are the same as the cheaper DVD release.

I saw this in the movies and i thought, realy another Hostel movie, the first 2 films were and still are masterpieceses but a third this makes it feel desperate for another, just like Wrong Turn 1,2,3 and 4, first 2 great from then on rubbish, the only films to hold my interest were the Saw films, the X-Men movies, The Fast And The Furious movies and the Nightmare On Elm Street with all the Friday the 13th fims and the Freddy vs Jason film as they just got funnier instead of more intense.

I found this movie an excellent one. It's a great addition the the Hostel series. The first two were much better, but this is still a brilliant addition to my BluRay collection!
