Based on real events, the dramatic thriller "Argo" chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis, focusing on the little-known role that the CIA and Hollywood played-information that was not declassified until many years after the event. On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of Canadian Ambassador Ken Taylor. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, the Canadian and American governments ask the CIA to intervene. The CIA turns to their top "exfiltration" specialist, Tony Mendez, to come up with a plan to get the six Americans safely out of the country. A plan so incredible, it could only happen in the movies.

 Oscar well deserved!

Ben Affleck proves again he is a force to be reckoned with behind the camera after cutting his teeth on Gone Baby Gone, then blew us away with the excellent The Town, now getting the well deserved oscar for Argo. We all know it's based on a true story, but what I didn't know was how smart, darkly funny and nerve shredding the movie is. A story that you would think would have been made up in Hollywood that actually sprang from Hollywood. The film is a hugely enjoyable thriller and if you think it's going to be stuffy, then think again. One of the best films of 2012!

This is a superb piece of film making Affleck is actually in my view the worst thing in the film but he is actually really good in the movie shows how good the film is. His eye to detail and the respect he has for the source material knowing when to Hollywood it to when keeping with the source. The academy really have messed up this time not nominating him. Looking forward to his next project already.
