Horror-meister John Carpenter teams Kurt Russell's outstanding performance with incredible visuals to build this chilling version of the classic The Thing.

In the winter of 1982, a twelve-man research team at a remote Antarctic research station discovers an alien buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Soon unfrozen, the shape-shifting alien wreaks havoc, creates terror and becomes one of them...

Being a huge fan of the movie, I was looking forward to this steelbook until I saw the final artwork.....is this green ugly mess the best they could come up with?

Excellent movie....HORRIBLE steelbook.

Brand new exclusive Play.com Steelbook of John Carpenter's 1982 Monster Movie Classic The Thing. This release is guaranteed to be a collectors favourite.

No need to state what it's all about, the movie stands the test of 30 years thanks to Rob Bottins(Stan Winstons) effects and looks better than any modern day digital effects flick.

The Blu-ray presentation is a solid one with a nice clean in shape print, excellent detail and black levels. It's sound presentation is dts-HD MA which has an excellent sound field.

On top of a great presentation of the film, there is an excellent load of extra's including The Terror Takes Shape documentary.

Add to this the lovely Steelbook art work and it's a collectors winner.

first of the movie is epic one of carpenters finest needs to be scene by anyone and everyone..secondly it looks and sounds fantastic on bluray..
thirdly has enough extras to satisfy anyone whos into this movie..
ok so there are a few mixed opinions on the look of the steelbook well i have to say when you see it in person it doesnt look half bad and feels well made so my thoughts were an epic movie in a steelbook for a tenner...whats not to like..

Fantastic film and a great steelbook. I dont understand why people have not rated this steelbook. Good price for a great film and you get a limited edition steelbook. If you like the film its a no brainer!

 Excellent 80's horror

A film perfectly paced that will have you on the edge of your seat. The atmosphere is amazing and really intense. Excellent practical effects help bring the horror to life and the acting from all is top notch.

I wont go into plot points because its a film that shouldnt be spoiled and you should see it without an prior knowledge of the story. One of John Carpenters best and only bettered by Big Trouble In Little China in my opinion.
