 Well I'd never seen it untill recently ...

I had never seen this film untill 2012 at age 27 (which makes it 31 yrs old!) - It always comes up on lists of all-time great horror movies so when it came on the Horror channel one night I wanted to see what all the fuss was about...

Surprisingly I can see now why its given such good reviews;

First off I never expected to be thinking at the end "that was good, actually that was really good " Some brilliant music and good characters that you can easily believe in and ultimately you will get caught up as it becomes a love story too !! (Yes I know but read on....)

Because it is really good, there is plenty of gore which picks up as the film moves on - usually id watch Hellraiser, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Final destination, saw, Hostel, etc.. but theres no denying the 80's special gore effects here and they hit the 'sweet spot' being superbly carried out (the Warewolf, its transfomations and the victims look great!). It helps too that the main female character is actually really fit !! ( she'd be "ahem' much older now.... - but you'll see what I mean anyway lol !)

Theres a nice touch of character/ dialogue humour involved upto the end as the story can be believable and enjoyable which I think is a must with some Horrors, and the acting is a million times better than some other old 80's - or even some of todays horrors! Word of warning tho... should you give this a try (it deserves it) be aware its 1981 and the cars on the roads are Mk 1 fiestas, old Dolomites etc. the film may seem dated in places, but the main characters thankfully seemed modern enough and good fun. - 1 copy definately Sold.

 A little bit of nostalgia goes a long way !!

I pre-ordered this steel book rather than buying the standard Bluray due to what looked like a fantastic and beautiful case and I was not dissapointed, as it looks fantastic.
The film itself for me is one of the classics, having watched it for the first time at the age of 7, now being 30, it was a real blast from the past and brought back memories of my childhood (strange as that may sound) I think the quality of the Bluray is great given the age of the film and I myself was certainly not dissapointed (alot better than VHS like one review stated would have been a better investment !?!?!)
Its a real bargain at 9.99 for a great all time classic and for a great display tin/steelbook, highly reccomended !!!!

First of all for the people who are complaining about the picture quality of this release, I have to say, that this is probably as good as it will probably ever get quality wise. The film is really grainy which I guess is because it was filmed with cheap film a really long time ago. So I wouldn't necessarily say that it's a bad transfer, but it isn't the best PQ you'll ever see.

As for the actual film, I love the darkly comic tone the film has and definitely see it as one of the first films to combine the two genres of horror and comedy. The plot is pretty simple, but thoroughly entertaining.

The extras include deleted scenes, outtakes and also the feature length documentary, "Beware The Moon" all about the making of the film.

For the price it's at and the quality of the Steelbook, I'd thoroughly recommend this release. Unless you already have the film on DVD. It's not worth double-dipping as the film's Picture Quality can't be much of an improvement on Blu-Ray.

 VERY HAPPY...
