Winner of seven Academy Awards (1973) including Best Picture, The Sting is one of the most popular and critically-acclaimed films of all time. Set in the 1930s, this intricate comedy caper deals with an ambitious small-time crook (Robert Redford) and veteran con man (Paul Newman) who seek revenge on the vicious crime lord (Robert Shaw) who murdered one of their gang.

How this group of charlatans puts "the sting" on their enemy makes for the greatest double-cross in movie history.

Excellent Restoration to an excellent film

| | See all Chuffed's reviews (40)

Excellent overlooked film from 1973. Very different from there previous outing and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid still has the pair play cheeky characters that are out to con an excellently played mob boss by Robert Shaw. The film restoration contains sharp picture and sound restoration it also contains the correct amount of grain to the film. A lot of people complain about seeing grain on film but as is explained in the documentary extra the majority of the older films contain grain on the film stock so whilst transfering they digitised the true image from the film stock meaning the grain is captured and digitised it the grain was excluded it would give a very flat yet colourful untrue representation on the film. Contained in a very smart digibook that includes information about the film and images from the film and poster it is a lovingly restored version of the film - needless to say it is the best release of this rare masterclass of a film and any true film lover should have in their collection. Enjoy.
