Agree with previous reviewer. It was an different take on the horror genre. Main characters were full and rounded with the little girl 'Sally' performing most admirably. Fantastic creepy house setting (the location manager did well!). Then there's the main characters, the evil little 'Fairies'. They blended so well into the film and really bought it alive. Not the most terrifying of movies, but a great view anyway. Really enjoyed. We can now see where the 'tooth fairy' came from, I suppose!
This movie is actually quite brilliant and rather a breath of fresh air compared to your average so called scary movies these days, a brilliant story about a family who move into a new home unaware of the fact little demon like fairies live in the cellar and they like to eat children, the effects are fantastic on the little monsters and rather creepy. The whole movie is well paced out and keeps you interested, the cast tops it off, everyone here does a great job the leads Katie Holmes and Guy Pearce are great and the little girl played by Bailee Madison is fantastic! If you love a good old fashioned creepy horror then make sure you check this out and also if youre a fan of Guillermo Del Toro this has his trademark strange and twisted prints all over it, great movie!!
