I thought this movie was actually pretty good. You can't say the acting is good or bad, you just take it for what it is.

Already had the steelbook(theatrical)version so was a bit dubious about double-dipping,but glad I did as this "extended" cut is a improvement over the original.
More story to the characters and a few added action scenes made the film more enjoyable.
BUY it,you wont be disappointed!!!

  ROUGH CUT!

This is a nice little cash in for the release of Expendables 2:
This is supposed to be the version that Stallone preffers as it offers 10 minutes of unseen footage, but before you think he is milking his fans dry (in a George Lucas fashion) think again! The extended scenes mainly flush out the characters more which was a fault with the cinema cut. Also this version boasts new music mainly in the amazing action scenes and also includes a new opening title sequence and not forgetting a bit more swearing. If you have not seen the original movie and is interested in it now due to the impending release of the sequel he's a quick re-cap:
You don't watch The Expendables expecting complex plotting, rich character arcs nor oscar worthy acting. This is a old school action movie that they used to make in the 80's - early 90's. That has a cast to die for. Stallone, Statham, jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Lundgren, Eric Roberts and cameo's from Bruce Willis and Arnie. Directed by Stallone with a great eye for the action he never lets the plot get in the way of explosions and carnage. This did have a slight down side as some of the characters are under used such as Rourke and Lundgren, but it's almost impossible not to get swept along for the ride as the crack team near enough destroy an Island. The stunts are excellent and again most are done for real such as the Sea Plane escape that really does add to the retro feel.
There is nothing that's going to bother the grey matter in this movie, just sit back and enjoy the bedlam as Stallone pulls out all the stops and the big guns in the climatic spectacular battle that leaves bones and limbs shredded in much the same way Stallone directed Rambo 4, But The Expendables has the added bonus of having it's tongue firmly planted in it's cheek, and knows not to take this comic book boys own action film serious. This is one of the most guilty pleasures in years, sit back turn of the brain and enjoy.
To be honest I would not say this version is any better than the previous cut, but if you are a fan it is a must buy as it does offer a different perspective of a great bit of action at a good price.

I have bought the USA Region A version. I would strongly recommend this New Directors Cut. Not only is the Action scenes better and longer, there is more depth in the story, and we now know a bit more about all the main charactors.
It's louder,more explosions,blood,gun's ,killingsand ACTION!!!!
The new extras are a real treat for STALLONE FAN'S.these are a lot better than the previous version.Sylvester Stallone-A Director In Action is a fantastic documentry on Sly and his perspective on directing.Spike TV Action The Expendables is another documentry with interviews with all the stars.

This New Extended Directors Cut of Stallone's masterpiece THE EXPENDABLES has got to be in Your Collection..Very,Very RECOMMENDED
