the film combines the legend of 'plato's' lost city of atlantis' with 'jules verne's '20,000 leagues under the sea' and 'mysterious island' along with 'robert louise stevenson's' 'treasure island'
'sean anderson' has been recieving coded messages from his grandfather who had disappeared a few years back.
'hank' 'sean's' stepdad offers to help work out the code, and using the relevent books locate the position of the island which thjey find doesn't appear on any maps.
'sean' wants to go and search for his grandfather, 'hank' after much thought agrees providing he goes too.
the two cannot find a guide to take them to the islands supposed position in the pacific at any price, until 'gabato' who owns a clapped out hellicopter volunteers his services along with his daughter 'kallani'
as they approach the supposed location of the island they run into a fierce storm, the hellicopter begins to break-up.
somehow the four survive the crash finding themselves on a beach, they are on the island, on which they will discover wonderous places, much beauty along with plenty of danger.
they soon run into trouble, however 'sean's' grandfather appears, and saves the four from a giant lizard......the adventure has begun.
'hank' realizes early on that the island wil, in a few days be submerged, they now have to find a way off the island.
the film has some impressive 'cgi' and '3D images to enjoy, it's not the best film you'll see this year, though i suspect the kids will love it, it is harmless fun throughout.
Felt I had to write a review of this film as I cant believe someone gave it 1 star.
Having recently purchased a 3D TV I have have been disappointed with the majority of movies as they seem to lack pop out effects. For me pop out effects should always feature in 3D Movies as they add to the experience and make you feel involved in the movie in my opinon. This is one of the best for pop out and I can only assume that the person giving 1 star has not got the 3D set up properly. This film also has beautiful depth and although not the greatest movie in the world, it is a good honest family movie that you would feel happy watching over and again.
Really enjoyable and what 3d was intended for.
I have never wrote a review before... this film was so bad I just had to.The story was week and jumpy so unbelivable in places that you just gawped...the action was lacking and poor..the only two 3d elements that were impressive was the intro Warner Bro and a night fly. the comedy was few and far between..but kids might like it...just not for adults despite having Michael Caine..
